I was out for an afternoon walk in the Borough and I happened upon this beauty parked behind a real estate office. The owner, realtor in his 50s or so, came out right when I walked up. We got to talking, and he told me this truck's history.

It is a 1987 Chevrolet S-10 2WD, and it is literally about as basic as they come. This truck has the 2.5L Iron Duke I-4, manual transmission (I believe it was a 4-speed and not a 5-speed), manual steering. manual brakes, no A/C, and factory radio delete! The aforementioned realtor inherited the truck from his father, who was the original owner. This truck only had about 33K original miles on the odometer at the time the pictures were taken, and among other things it had the original clutch! This truck is so basic that the owner's late father had to special order it, because every other new S-10 on the lot was too fancy for his tastes. The only creature comfort this S-10 has is a heater/defogger, which was about the only standard feature on an S-10 in 1987!

So yeah, feast your eyes on this original, unrestored, 33K mile S-10 pickup!

No just a regular forum, but these were made when the original forum owner still owned the site. I got that like 12 years ago.

Fun Fact: I had 2 2nd gen S-10s

 

This is one of my favorite 2nd Gens that I've spotted over the years...

This is a FULLY LOADED 1994 regular cab/long bed 4x4 with the top LS trim, and it ended up for sale probably 6 months after these pictures were taken. This truck had the 4.3L Vortec "W Code" V6 engine, 4-speed automatic transmission, G80 locking rear differential, A/C, cruise, tilt, power windows, power locks, stereo cassette, and bucket seats. I wanted so badly to buy this, but I had a perfectly good Tacoma and no money at the time...

I spotted the truck for sale at a garage/gas station near the Dunkin Donuts where I was working at the time, and inquired about it. The gas station owner was friends with the truck's owner and allowing the owner to park it on his property so people could actually see it. The gas station owner was nice enough to hand me the keys and let me start it up. This S-10 had less than 100K miles (at 19 years old), the engine fired right up and ran like a dream, and the A/C blew ICE COLD. I was allowed to take it around the block for a quick test drive, but I was afraid to do so because the truck was no longer registered at this point (and presumably uninsured)...

Someone bought it within a week!

I found this one on FleaBay (along with a customized GMC Sierra pickup), called the dealership, and got the okay from the owners to take all the pictures I wanted...

This is a 1997 Lingenfelter Pro Street truck, valued at about $150K if I remember correctly...

This 1994 Chevrolet S-10 LS 4x4 belonged to a guy I knew (but haven't seen in a couple years). Sadly, it went to the big parking lot in the sky when it's owner lost control and slammed into a light pull head-on...

It was in near-mint condition prior to the accident, and everything (A/C, cruise control, 4WD, etc) worked!

All photos were taken in Doylestown in 2012-2014...
