    this might help:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/largest-tacoma-tire-sizes-on-stock-suspension.67550/

many tacoma owners, including myself, think the standard tire size of 245/75r16 is a bit too puny looking.
a 235/85r16 tire will be LESS wide and taller (larger diameter) than the stock 245/75r16.
on stock suspension, the 235/85r16 may cause some rubbing because of the larger overall diameter.
I would stick with a stock size or the sizes tcbob recommends in the linked post unless you install a lift.
my personal opinion is that the stock tire is puny looking because it is not wide enough. i plan on going to a tire size of 265/70r17.

    Whichever weighs less.
    Probably the 265/70/16; I don't think they make a 235/80/16 that isn't an LT.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
I put on 265/6517's on my SR5-- but of course I also swapped out wheels to 4runner trail model -- I love the results and get compliments very often.
