I only get rub on plastic in reverse. Will probably still do CMC because I'm sure as soon as I stuff a wheel it's going to rub.

    16" ray10s are 16x8 with 4" BS

Are 255 width tires out of the equation? I'm running 255/80/17 with no rub.

Get as much - caster as possible. Running scs f5 wheels with, I think 4.5 bs. I did have to do some very minor trimming to the plastic and used a heat gun to remold the fender liner....goal was to keep it clean bc I'm a little OCD.

New almost 40k truck. I get the CMC hesitation, I was there till I decided nothing looks better than 285s.

Jumped all in and glad I did. Can't even tell a CMC was done unless u stick ur head in the wheel well and it's pointed out to ya.

    So worth it.

Unless you’re looking for the CMC, no one including the dealership will notice you did it. That’s how clean they can turn out. Just get it done and rip the band-aid off.

You would think Toyota would have just addressed this issue with the new model trucks. But hey at least it keeps the lights on for our off-road companies haha.

285/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on ATX Mojave II's 17x8 4.5 bs. Without the CMC I would be rubbing every morning when I 3-point turn to get out of my driveway. 4.5 is the general consensus for backspacing but not carved in stone.

Before you go deciding on 7" wide rims, make sure the tire includes that in suggested range. You can see that on the tire manufacturers website.

I think folks need to realize it's not just the width of 285, but the aspect ratio of 70 or 75. You're running a 33" tire. Shorten that down to a 32" tire with the same width and you'd be fine with the proper backspacing.

So I was thinking about 17"setup. I see a lot of examples of 16". Do you guys think that 16" setup is better to work with on the subject? And what's possible consequences of switching from 17" to 16"? Clearing breaks, UCAs etc.?

You think that's where the problem is? It's the nice way to solve an issue but those .5-.8 inches is all that's the whole deciding factor is. That's what makes all difference

No, I do not. There are many factors. For example; I haven't seen caster mentioned yet.

Might comment was on the profile of said tire sizes. Not a fan; function or looks.

Youre opening a can of worms here. The short answer is search the threads on these forums for information, read first, educate yourself, then ask informed questions.

A 16" rim should clear your breaks unless you have 17" rotors. If your going for a 285... 285/70/17 and 285/75/16 are the same dimensions. The application is virtually 100% the same. The real difference is aesthetics.

Some tires aren't available in 16" wheel size. For example my Ridge Grapplers only go on 17 and up.
