So, I have had my new 2018 Quicksand TRD OFFROAD 4x4 for the past 2 weeks. I was quoted $135/month with $1000 deductibles. I just called and applied my Active Duty discount and dropped it down to $117/month, $1000 deductibles, no roadside assistance, and no accident forgiveness.

Is this good for a new truck? (I'm 23 by the way)

I had thought it would be a bit lower like $100 flat a month since its a truck. I understand sports car (my sport car was $200/month on insurance), but my Silverado was only $60/month with just liability.

Just curious since this is my first NEW truck. All the other trucks I have had were used (normally 1-2 years old when I buy em).

I just signed up with NJM yesterday. $870 for the entire year for a Sport. I’m 45 with a spotless license so guess you can say I paid my due. $75/month.

Where you live. How much you drive. Bundling. All plays into the final cost.

See i brought up my age when i turned 25. They said it made no difference. In fact rates went up. Apperently florida and new jersey are the 2 highest states. I do have a 792 credit score though which is the only reason my insurance is not crazy.

I guess I should have mentioned, I am stationed in Louisiana, which was why I was able to get active duty discount on top of military discount on my insurance. I don't have any tickets or accidents.

When I turn 25, is that automatic or do I have to do something to get it lowered?

Also, since someone mentioned credit score; I have excellent credit if that helps any(didn't think it does)... guess since I owned 9 vehicles and paid the loans on all of em on time helps along with using my credit card exclusively (have those special cards that bank has to offer you instead of applying for it, but catch is you have to spend a certain amount a month so I have to use it a lot).

Man I have the worst luck. Both my homes are in NJ and FL. I can understand NJ but what’s the deal with FL?

    Gender

    Location
    History
    And on and on.

    Thanks for your service.
    Are you using USAA?
Also you said you are active duty, are you living on base? If so, let them know because the rate is lower if vehicle is parked on base.
Where at in Louisiana are you, My last station was Barksdale A.F.B., and I stayed in the area.

You're comparing apples to a random fruit basket by asking on an internet forum. While folks can give answers, there are too many variables for it to be meaningful to you.

So here's 3 pieces of truth that you can use that might be helpful

    1) your rate will fall when you turn 25 (verify with your agent)

    2) yes, a new truck will cost more. It may have some discounts for safety stuff that older units don't have. But it is worth more, so it costs more.

    3) It worthwhile to shop around every renewal period. Always use 2-3 independent agents who each represent different companies from each other.

Looks like you are enlisted. Is USAA an option for you? If it is, its worth including on your shopping list.

Might shop around, or it might not have an effect in your state. Or perhaps that segment of the risk pool has changed in the insurance rate calculation. The ins companies are experts at slicing and dicing every potential variable that may impact their risk to pay a claim.

Retirees and winter residents from NJ. :D

Along with piles of uninsured/unlicenced folks.

Lots of out of country visitors in certain parts of the state who have no clue where they are going.

And a spread of folks who belong in AA and NA, but that's true in most states unfortunately.
