    Morning all.

@Jcyr - hope you feel better soon.

BTW, you didn't touch anything at the hospital did you? That's one giant germ factory...

Probably just stomach flu I’m feeling much better after6 hours of iv and nausea/morphin stuff. Been home for aboutan hour now just super fatigued and like fragile.
I touched plenty but to be fair I was likely the germ spreader oppressed to the reciever they brought me right in so long never sat in the waiting room or anything

Sway control was off; I always turn it off when I'm hauling an empty trailer because of that. You can go into the 'trailer settings' in the truck's computer and select if you want it on or off, what sort of brakes the trailer has, etc. On the way down I tried putting the trans in standard mode, tow/haul, and sport and had the same problem with all of them. Every time you hit a bump or even if you went down a slope and started up a strong enough grade you'd get a tug from the trailer as its brakes kicked on and the truck would downshift to compensate for the extra drag. I don't know if the brake actuator on the trailer that I got is due for a rebuild or what, but it was incredibly annoying to have the trailer fighting me for 2.5 hours on the trip down.
Like I mentioned before I put it in Manual mode and controlled the shifting on the way home and between that & having some weight in the trailer it settled down some, but it would still brake every time I hit a bump.
Just more incentive to buy a trailer of my own, I guess.

U-haul trailers are a 4-flat connection with surge brakes; the brake controller from the truck has zero input.
My understanding of Surge brakes is that they work through a hydraulic piston mounted in the tongue of the trailer. When you brake the weight of the trailer pushes on that piston and compresses it, which forces hydraulic fluid into the brake cylinders on the wheels and engages the brakes. The harder you brake, the harder the trailer brakes. That's the theory, at least. I think this one must have had some slop in the pivot point and as I went down the road the trailer kept nudging the surge piston and tapping the brakes every time I hit a bump.

U-Hauls use surge brakes and are usually poorly maintained.
    Yuck, hope you feel better!
Sounds like you just had a crappy trailer then. You shouldn’t have even felt that thing behind you empty.

AH, maybe this is what just happened to me. Rented a 6x12 trailer & towed it w the Tacoma & it was a (relative) breeze. 2 weeks later I rented a different 6x12 & it was fighting me the whole time, towed incredibly heavy. So bad I wrote uhaul & let them know. I even stopped in a rest area to see if the trailer was low on brake fluid, but it wasn't. That was a really poor experience.

It's official fellas and Lady, going to the Outer Banks with the bro in law and his family the first week of July. The sis in law already booked the place. Staying at a house. Looks real nice.
