Just outside of North Bay we have some pretty sweet trails, I use em all the time. Lots of levels of difficulty.

Bobcaygeon has some pretty easy stuff if you stick to the main trail. Fairly scenic and lots to explore. But would be a decent drive from Ottawa

Any links to the bobcaygeon trails, I'd start there as it's close

I don’t have much, just whatever i can find on the internet. Ive been a few times so i can get around there pretty good now.

Bass lake rd. Follow it till it turns dirt, youll find the trails. Its called five point trail system, the major trails are anyway. Shared with snowmobiles in the winter. Also has concession lake trail in there which is for moderate built vehicles. I did some of it wirh my jeep jk on 33s and it was pretty demanding

Theoretically ardbeg you can do. Wouldn’t suggest the full trail just parts. Ganaraska could be a closer option.

If you want to try some light trails, there are a series of logging, fire, and hydro roads starting near Bon Echo park off hwy 41 that wind their way across to hwy 62 between Madoc and Bancroft. I'll be heading up that way as soon as the snowmobiles are done with it. That's as close to you as I know for sure. I have heard of some up around Calabogie too, but not sure where they are.

I'm new to the Tacoma club with a 2017 DCSB MT. Just got it last month and looking to do some off-roading with it. I have ridden dirt bikes from the Madoc/Bancroft area east over to the Calabogie area for the last 30 or so years. Lots of great trails for the Tacomas. Between hwy 62 and hwy 41 there are 2 parallel powerline trails. The south poweline trail is now a road you can take your car on. The north trail would, I think, make a great novice 4x4 trail. Lots of other great trails in the area.

This that and the other thing.
so there are some trails out in the Calabogie area which isn't too far from Ottawa, but I have never been on them and don't know exactly where they are but I know some of them are listed on the OF4WD. I know there is a trail off of March Rd by Almonte, called Burnt Lands, it is also listed on OF4WD. have not been on it yet but I am definitely down to do some exploring and I'm sure @Kemosabe might want to join in. I know my buddy has been on the Burnt Lands trail, so he could be a guide of sorts lol Kemosabe might know of a few places to get off the road over on the Quebec side as well.

Nothing will stand up to the rocks. Don't waste your money.
Or waste it, but don't be surprised when it gets ruined.

being extra careful, minden and portions of ardbeg.

The whole ardbeg south trail I wouldn't really recommend since the southern end gets tough and has no bypasses. Although it was passed by a few stock guys in october when we did it. Still wouldn't say its the best option.

Minden is passable with decent tires and careful lines. There are maybe 2-3 spots that are tougher and no bypass at all. So thats the only really hard part to it.

Hoggs Back in the peterborough area isn't really hard but you can almost guarantee pinstripping and if you are going to try it there is a water hole at the start that you absolutely have to take the bypass as it swallows 35" tires with ease and soft bottomed.

There's supposed to be others in the Kawarthas area but I am yet to check them out. Might check them out soon.

I posted it above somewhere. Link to all the trails.

I really want to try concessions this year. I know one of my friends mentioned the same to me that it is a relatively demanding trail. So 33s are a must.
I hear mixed though is it mud or rock?

If I install my compressor behind the rear seat, what gauge wire do you guys recommend? Some charts say 8ga others 6ga.
    Ground on the frame anywhere?

It has both, lots of good sized rocks and lots of swamp areas. Alot of the bad water crossings have bypasses, but even the bypasses are pretty bad still.

I think I’ll try it this year with the zr2, key word try. If its to much i have no problem turning around. Even the start of the trail is a decent hill then a big drop. It tests you right away. We didn’t have a winch when we went and was right after s good rain. Best bet would be july august after a long dry week, but the bugs are terrible, its dense forest the whole way unlike minden and ardbeg with openings in the powrrline

    that's what I've heard.

Figure its defnitely a test. Same thing for me though I have no problem turning back if its too tough.

    whats the amp draw?

And just be aware you'll probably need to keep the seat down while using so it gets better air flow and doesn't overheat too much.
