What would be the dimensions on a bigger tent?

I'm very interested! Looking to sell my CVT for a hardshell. CVT releasing their new one next month (they had issues with the latches on version 1.0), but this is a very similar tent for less. Wasn't criticizing your decision, I was legitimately asking because several companies sell similar tents with different style latching systems. In my experience those style loosen up over time and usually you have a back up just in case, but I don't have experience in this specific application so maybe they don't in this case. Thank you for answering my questions and let me research more before I commit. Is there an approximate delivery date?

I’m debating switching to the latch style but going to wait till i get a few nights in the tent and see how the buckles do

CVT had issues with their latches breaking so they released a retrofit that required drilling to fix it yourself. The new tents they are releasing next month will have an entirely new latch system that they have tested. If the strap buckle style works well I would stick with it.

Yeah the latch they used wasn’t up to the task, but exactly why I don’t want to shy away from what is currently used. It’s good enough to get everyone going but everyone that has voiced their thoughts on a latch (people that own a tent) I have asked them all to keep me in the loop how everything goes. I’m all for a better product but not willing to use 20 people each round as test subjects without a viable solution when something is already in place that works. Adding a latch is really simple. I could give you a rough date once we have all the people committed but until then I can’t give you anything near approximate unfortunately

Let me know what you end up using if you buy some. I want some but only for the front on the side as they are a little difficult to reach on my ram without sliders or any good step

Yeah if it works no reason to change it. I didn't really understand how it worked until I found the video. I bet if you posted that video to page 1 it would get more people on board or at least clear up some questions. Is there anyone in Portland area that has this tent? I would be interested in seeing one in person and that would probably get me committed.

That video is the old version, that’s why it’s not on the first page. Everything but the basic concept has changed from that video. The shell, the ladder, the fabric, the window anwings, the zippers, the pull downs, the strut cover, the buckles, the liner, nearly everything has changed

You know where to put your name if your ever actually committed

For sure man. Will be using it for the first time at the start of March in Death Valley. I’ll figure it if i want to try a latch after that.

I’m sure the current system works fine, I’d just want the latch to make it even faster and quicker to secure closed.

Any chance of having more mesh screening for better views? I also maybe interested in the clamshell, would like more picture of it and a video if possible.

@ChandlerDOOM - I noticed the latest release has a gray mattress pad cover. Is it possible to just order the mattress pad cover separately?

If you want to share, here's another picture I have of the tent fully deployed...

I thought they were all green, but looking at the picture of the one green tent it looks like it has a grey cover. Im sure I can get one ordered for you

Awesome picture by the way, same with all the stuff you post on your story on instagram

Had the opportunity to camp in this for the first time last night. Temperature only got down to around 40. I was actually hot laying under my Enlightened Equipment quilt and comforter. It's good to have layers though. I used the roof net to store my coat and rain jacket. The wall hooks are perfect for hanging a headlamp. The mattress is comfortable as is.

One thing that I would find most helpful on this is a separate awning over the door. Not sure if that would be possible, but it would be very nice to have another piece of fabric over the door that could be used as an awning instead of only having the solid door to use as an awning. That way when it's cold AND raining/snowing, you can keep the solid door closed AND have a small awning covering the door/steps to make it easier to enter/exit the tent without getting wet.

Oh, beware of closing the tent after it rained all night. I gave a tug on the back strap to start pulling the back of the tent down only to get a cold shower when all of the water that was laying on top of the shell came pouring down on top of me. My bad.

I left my comforter (which is rather large) inside the tent along along with two pillows, mummy bag, and synthetic quilt. I can see now how the strap enclosures that come with this tent are useful when varying amounts of gear are left inside. It was a bit difficult to close, but I worked my way around it. I'll probably simply remove the comforter to make it easier to close tightly. That said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The ladder is freaking beautiful. Seriously. It's so nice to hook this ladder onto the brackets on the side of the tent and slide it out.

I'm extremely happy with this tent. It was a great purchase. I seriously don't see any other hard shell tent even close to this price point. Granted I use it simply for me any my pup. But it has the perfect amount of room for me.

I can agree with a second solid door. Let me mess with the one I have an see if I can come up with something to retrofit existing tents if I move forward with the update.
