We rolled into one pit just to see how bad it was getting due to all construction, literally was heading back out and I saw them drive around the corner blacked out lol

3 of us got 55$ tickets Saturday afternoon in that same pit. Kinda my fault I was leading us and saw another truck playing in the pit so I went down in it and didn’t see the signs till it was to late.

Yeah we got tickets. Our faults but they were cool, said it’s the forestry service calling them out there because of all the ruts. Some of the sand rail guys that were there got some and when they were done with the tickets they said they are allowed to play in the pits since they got their ticket for the day... weird

Stands to reason with half the campground occupied by us and the other half filled with rail buggies, plus a 100 or so Jeepers clogging up the trails the FWC was going to be out in force. It definitely wasn't a good weekend to be venturing into verboten areas. :bananadead:

Always nice of them to tell you an area is off limits as you're leaving...

Honestly the only sign I saw was like across the pit and was pretty small I couldn’t really make out what it said. I’m not trying to say I wasn’t in the wrong but it wasn’t really marked off that great for how hard they enforce it.

It's an easy way for them to generate revenue. Kind of like getting popped for speeding when you exit the interstate while the closest speed limit sign is a half mile further down the road.

It's also a factor of people tearing down the signs. I've seen the pits fairly well marked on some trips while other times there's not a sign to be seen...not that it will save you from getting a ticket. The published rules of the area say don't leave the designated trail.

Kind of funny how they have the pit open and accessible while other areas are staked in gated or chained

That's because that's where they dig out the clay to repair the trails so they need to have access to it.

Yeah, I understand that's what they used to do, that pit doesn't look much different from what I remember. Ocala is the same, just not as sly.

I had fun, great to hang out with friends for a while. I was hungry so i did a little solo run and headed home. Thanks for letting me in the fast good group. Was still a shit show because of the traffic, haha. I guess alot of other groups had the same weekend planned. Oh well, still good times.
