    Taquito got a new front tire. I was running a Shinko 705. It’s a great tire it’s like an all terrain. It’s made for 80/20 road/dirt. While I love riding this bike on dirt it’s 500 pounds and it spends 99% of its time on pavement going between Campbell and Fremont everyday on 880.

    This is a Michelin Pilot Road 4 Trail. The trail designation just means it fits a 19” front wheel rather than a 17” front wheel. It’s also dual compound. The rubber is harder in the middle and softer on the sides. The regular tire’s harder middle is 40% while the trail version is like 60% or something.

    $200 out the door for such a little tire.

    The next project for Taquito are the hard side cases and a mountain bike rack on the back. After that I’m going to start looking for a more dirt oriented dual sport that can cruise on the highway. Maybe a DRZ400S. One motorcycle is not nearly enough.

    When I first got my truck I put some switches here. It kinda worked.

    Then I moved the switched and the holes remained.
    I got this trim piece from Toy Connection and added the USB port. Much better.

    Got some new tires. I’m not planning on doing much technical off roading for the next couple years. If I do it’s as a passenger. I’m gonna keep camping but will ride the motorcycle more and do more backpacking. The 255 85 16 maxxis bighorn mud terrains I had did amazingly well off road but for my overall driving habits didn’t work. I’ve gone down to 265 75 16 Bridgestone Dueller Devo 2’s. They’re 11 pounds lighter per tire and roll pretty smooth.
    I got them at the shop that messed up my truck for $104 per tire with tax and everything so I can’t complain about that.

    Lol...I just don’t see the need for big tires. The hardest trails I do are the ones around Downieville. You did fine on 265 75 16’s.

    Maybe I’ll go back to the 255 65’s. They won’t be mud terrains though

    Lol../that’s a legit worry actually.

    While in MX two years ago we were following the Baja 1000 course. The. Race had been run the week before so it was all chewed up. The sky opened up and dumped rain. The road turned into 4 inches of this thick sticky clay. The bighorns did very well. With these tires I’d have to wait for it to dry out.

    There's always the option of selling these in a year or so and going back to a bigger more aggressive tire. I think Cooper ST Maxx in a 255 85 would be a good comprimise.

    I really like your build! I wouldn't worry about the tires too much, if the new ones don't work out after a while you can always try again. The Cooper tires are nice, but bigger, heavier and probably don't ride as good as your new ones.

    Finally got around to pulling the steering wheel apart. Yup, broken clock spring.

    And it’s theft proof for the time being.

    That was an easy fix. I found a used clock spring on eBay for $28. They’re normally close to $300 new.

    A while ago I bought a corded harbor frieght impact wrench. It was $40 and GIGANTIC but worked pretty well. It made working on the truck much better but the thing was huge and heavy. Then somehow I managed to lose it somewhere.

    Yesterday I finally bit the bullet and got this Milwaukee Mid Torque impact. It came with one 5 amp hour battery and a charger for $253. It's a fraction of the size of the harbour frieght and has 600 ft pounds of breaking torques. I tried it on some lug nuts...no problem...even on the medium setting.

    Ive been wanting to get one of these or maybe one slightly bigger for a while. The price tag is hefty tho, so for now its the breaker bar still. lol

    yeah man..it's a good chunk of change.

    My buddy got the harbor freight earthquate one. He has a box truck and the lugs are torqued to 400 foot pounds. It zips those right off.

    Still kinda pricy but stupid amounts of power.

    I figure the 600 foot pounds this littler guy, that can also fit into smaller spaces should be able to take off the big hub nut that's like 175 foot pounds when I have to change a CV axle or whatever on the trail.

    I've got some cool shit coming up to put on the truck in the next few months so this will make all that a bunch easier.
