Ok so I ordered my 5100's and 1.5" AAl from Wheelers. Thanks to them they answered a bunch of questions and put me in the right direction for what I want for lift. They are on there way.

Now to decide on what setting for the front. Here are some quick measurements I took over the weekend but I want to double check on a more level surface: LF 33 1/2, RF 34 1/2, LR 35 1/2, RR 36 1/2. Yea something doesn't make sense with this that is why I want to double check tires and ensure a better level ground.

The more I think about it and from I saw from the measurements from what 05moose got with his, this was very informative. I think at 1.75 front and the 1.5" AAL in the rear will give me about an 1" of rake or less. Am I looking at this correctly?

Also, what do I need to watch for when going this high and I noticed some changing the settings later. Are they changing that while they are installed or they pulling them out? I have noticed that when the brakes are applied my rotors are warped, but, on the highway I have noticed a slight steering wheel vibration or like a shimmy (sloppy feeling and play in the front end) thinking the shocks and alignment may take care of this. Any other thoughts?

I noticed what looks to be a great write up about the alignment after the lift is installed. I am currently running 245/70-16 tires still new. What should the alignment be?

Finally, sorry for the long post but trying to do this right with what I bought! I would like to do this all myself if possible, exception of the alignment. Thought about even pulling the rotors when this is being done. Would anyone around me be interested in helping me with this? I know I am still an FNG here but I have never used a spring compressor. I do have access to ne however. I am trying to get a friend of mine who just rebuilt a car help. He has a spring compressor and works at an auto store part time and can borrow thiers if need be.

    Thanks

Instead of measureing to the ground....Measure from the Wheel Hub to a specific point on the body. That'll take the tires outta the equation and unless you have some flex going on it'll kinda negate the level ground issue too.

I have never used a spring compressor before. There is a garage in Nanticoke called Eddy & Jacks. He installed my springs and shocks then aligned it for $130. I am not comfortable using a compressor.

I think I may have seen you around or your truck I should say. description sounds like I have seen that before.
I never used one either last truck just jack it up remove shock install new simple. This is a new beast for me. $130.00 bucks not bad how long ago did you have yours done and how is the alignment afterwards. I may give them a call and see how much to do mine and turn the rotors to remove the warp.

It was only a few weeks ago, I would need to look at my receipt to get an exact date. Rides great, doesn't wander on the highway. They don't take appointments but if you go down in the morning (open at 830) and drop it off, it'll be done by end of the day.

I may need to pack the mountain bike in the bake and take a long ride back to Plains then. Do they do brake work as well.

I would think so, but can't promise. I know they do not touch leaf springs, but that's okay since they are fairly easy to do.

Ok I am happy now Jigzor good place about $100 bucks to check the rotors and install the front shocks and align it. Thanks Hope you don't mind I dropped the description of your truck and they remembered it. They are unfamiliar with the 5100's though. So look like I will have to set them. They don't do AAL though. Looks like I need to buy a big c-clamp, torque wrench and do this myself. Did you take them the alignment specs or they just adjust them to what the factory spec are or as close to that ? Might just look funny sitting nose high until I can get the leafs put in.

    Thanks

I had OME shocks installed. If you set the shocks as you want before hand there shouldn't be a problem. No, I let him punch in the year/make/model into the pc and he handled it from there. It worked out, and haven't had any problems.

He just remembered the truck and it was OME install. That is the cheapest I heard of everyone else is like $70 to do the alignment. Again thanks for the info.

spring compressors are pretty simple tools, no? I don't know why people are so intimidated by them... The ones I've seen sold are basically just hooks and all-thread.

Because if something should fail or any reason a 620# spring blows up in your face causing serious damage and or possible death. I will support local shops instead of doing it myself in that aspect. not everyone is extreme mechanical inclined either.

I am very mechanically inclined to do things, I just don't like to use things for the first time ie spring compressor for the first time my self. I would rather have someone around to ensure I did it right. Besides, I have seen what a 2' diameter cylinder can do when the saftey seal is not properly installed. The guys wife did not even recognize him because face was so distorted and mangled.
You want to go on a road trip to come here and help I will get the compressor not a problem, bud!
