I want to think that I messed up the splice but when I tested it first, both controls had backlit but the right one didn’t worked... so I am going to have to check the wiring...

    Thanks man!!

I did my fog mod before Nitori’s writeup so I used one of the blank spots on the dash and put a switch...

I’ll check next week.. I’m not electrician so what I am capable of doing is check the connector on the steering wheel and the connector on the harness... if the steering wheel connector has “x” wired pins I assume the harnes should have the same amount... that is as far I can go with my none knowledge of wiring... I can follow steps like this writeup but nothing beyond that...

This was not an option for 2017. After looking at interior pictures for a 2018, it looks like you scored 2018 parts. Keep up the good work.

FYI... I completed this mod on my 2016 SR. First off, there was no difference between the new stereo controls and the used one I purchased online. They both had 6 wires on the connectors. As far as the display controls, it only had 4 wires on the connector. ( I'm thinking the difference is the lane departure and front collision system. Also OP has a 2018 and mine is a 2016).After studying the wiring diagram I notices that the 2016 doesn't use a common ground for the lights. So I did not solder the jumper wire that OP talks about in step 8. Everything worked liked a charm. Thanks OP for getting me started on this mod.
If you would like to check to see if your truck is wired. Simply take off the steering wheel column covers and look at the bottom for the marked connector. If you have wires in spots 10 and 11, then you are wired for the display controls.20180118_143154.jpg 20180118_143246.jpg

What route did you take for the odometer matching ?
What pn cluster did you use ?

There are a few vendors online that do mileage correction. Just google mileage correction. Speedo PN 83800-04F00.

Is it cool if I add this to the original post for those that want to check to see if they are prewired or not?

I'm going to link the following response into the original post (at some point).
Regarding older vehicles (newest I've done this on is an 09), you would have three options.

    1) Remove your new gauges eeprom (a solid state chip that burns memory to itself and doesn't need power to "remember" this data, this is where the odometer reading is store) and replace it with your old gauges eeprom

    2) Remove your new gauges eeprom, create a serial data read/write circuit and then do some decoding of the 160 bit hex code, find the odometer reading in there and then rewrite it to your CORRECT mileage.

    3) Hook up a square wave generator to your gauge clusters VSS wire and simulate a speed signal which tells the gauge cluster the car is actually moving. This will only work if your new cluster has a lower mileage than the one you're replacing.

Now, the general idea is the same on newer vehicles but you have CANBUS stuff to worry about. I have done 1 & 2 above about 10-20 times or so but on nothing newer than 2009. I personally did number 3 to my gauge cluster. I have access to advanced auto equipment and was able to simulate the canbus speed signal and ran the cluster up to the correct mileage. But I don't believe it can be done with a simple square wave. You can find some info on it online if you google "canbus simulation". And it looks like a few companies make an actual circuit that hooks to your computer and allows you to simulate a canbus signal. If you're looking to lower your odometer, I have no first hand experience on this truck but may tinker with my old gauge cluster and see what I can come up with.

I think you meant VSS pin 39 instead of tachometer. Yes ?
I believe they are two different things.
I think tach is pin 9.

OP bought wrong cluster for his truck is why he is not getting cruise and proper screens, and solder modification is not necessary to pads.

Ahhh. Yes, good catch. I was writing that response between sets at the gym so I wasn't too focused on that. My wiring diagram doesn't show a direct VSS input, I believe it runs through the TCM and then to the gauge cluster via CANBUS but I'll double check. If it doesn't then you should be able to just hook up to the VSS input on the gauge cluster and use a simple square wave generator and run up the mileage
