Did you ever drive a truck down HWY 52 before they built I-77? Many a times I rode down that mountain behind a truck with his brakes smelling and a smoking. My grandma lived at the bottom of the mountain in Cana, VA. and I can tell you that many a Tractor and Trailer went off the side of that mountain before they built 77 and banned them from going down 52.

That radio station is WBRF 98.1 and you can listen to it online. If you want to hear some great Bluegrass, a girl I graduated school with, Judith Burnette, has a Bluegrass show every Saturday night from 6 - 10. She plays some really good music and has some great interviews. Check it out. LINK

Yeah I've been up and down 52 also when they had wrecks on 77. I cant imagine what it was like for the old timers back in the 40's and 50's. when that was the only road. Ill check out 98.1 I always thought is was further down the dial in the non comercial range.

I know it's off topic but I'll tell you a quick story. There on 52 going down the mountain is a curve called Tate's curve. There was a man and his family lived there and he made a living collecting money from trucking companies when trucks would lose their brakes and end up going through his yard. One time one of the trucking companies never paid him so the next truck that ended up in his yard he chained it to a tree with a logging chain. He wouldn't let them pull it out until he got paid for not only that truck but the last one as well. It wasn't even the same company but they paid.

Another time a truck load of button down white shirts crashed there. My dad said for years after that you could always see a Tate kid coming from a mile off because of their white shirts.

Not exactly Bluegrass but I liked it. Reminds me a little of Bob Dylan.

I love that song Freeborn Man.

Jimmy not being made a member of the Grand Ole' Opry is like Pete Rose not being in the Hall of Fame.
