ARB CKMTA12 compressor mount location?

I did the same thing as routeman: mocked up the bracket with cardboard and then used some 16ga sheet metal from Home Depot. I pounded the angles into it while holding in a vice and then drilled holes for the compressor.

There was a device attached to the fender wall (turned out to be the fuel pump resistor) which I relocated to the back of my plate. I used the bolt hole from the resistor bracket to fabricate a little support tab you can see on the left here:



Spray painted everything black and we're good to go!



The right edge (unsupported) has a slight bit of flex to it, but not so far that the compressor or the bracket are able to touch anything else near by. There might be a vibration when driving but I don't hear/feel anything. You could fabricate another support bracket that goes back to the firewall, but I don't think it's that bad.

 

That's pretty awesome setup! If I had the time and a vice I would have loved that over the Slee bracket I have...

 

I know you posted this a while ago, but just in case you have not yet found a solution, if u scroll down there is a product that will mount the ARB Twin Comp. where you wish to put it. you could probably make your own based off this example.

Hmmm. Nope haven't got around to installing yet. Picked up a bike and have been dumping money for mods for it. So I still need the tank and air lines.

 

Thread revival. Has anyone used the expedition essential mount in the bed storage?

I haven't installed mine yet - I was going to retrofit it with my ViAir pump however my concern was that the case wasn't a sealed case on the bottom and if you hit water it could technically seep up... I'm still looking at different solutions for now.

 

I now have the slee mount. It’s oretty awesome

 

Just finished my install. It's pretty easy if you take your time and think everything through.

 

Any concerns with water getting up onto the pump from the bottom of tbe truck?

 

No. The air inlets are at the top of the compressor, and the box is pretty stout and makes a great splash shield. You'd have to basically submerge your rear end to be enough water that high.

What did you do to extend and route the wiring to the engine bay?

 

Soldered wires and ran them up. Expedition Essentials just started making plug and play harnesses though.

Thinking about doing the same thing also. Did you just lock it down with nuts and bolts? I'm a little worried due to it being plastic.

I'm looking at a similar mounting position over the fuse box, but I may mount between fuse box and power steering reservoir. Have to think about mounting plate for drivers side wheel well. Of course I'm doing this mentally from 7200 miles away from my Taco, but I'll start hands on in two weeks.

 

When I take the portable single comp out of the tool box and before I mount it in the engine bay, I plan to insulate every lead and connector to ensure the compressor mounted switch doesn't fry.
