OK need a little assistance - I want to upgrade the DOME and MAP lights only, mainly because its hard for the kiddos to see the seatbelt buckle at night.

So what are the go to for DOME and MAP LED replacements?

 

Pictures look awesome. I'm assuming this extra throw isn't causing any issues for oncoming drivers ?

 

You would have to get the kids sunglasses but the @mesojdm Ultimate Package deal has got to be the brightest light setup to date.

 

Not at all. The projector lens on the 3rd gen does a great job of keeping that light output perfectly cut off. So as long as your headlights aren't adjusted to high you will have no issues. I adjusted my head lights to aim up just a little more than stock and I haven't been flashed yet.

Now on a reflector housing, i cant speak on so if you have a 2nd gen you might wait to see what others are saying about the reflector housing and these bulbs.

 

Nope my truck is like yours (3rd Gen) but with a smaller cab.... and a tighter turning radius !

 

From what others are saying, you'll need sunscreen when you install his newest dome and map lights! LOL

I am leaning VLEDS as well I just hear that new bulbs from different manufactures are coming out in the next few months from what I am hearing....When I do it I'm doing both H/L beams.

This technology is moving at the speed of light( no pun intended)

So what seems to be everyones consensus VLEDS or Hikari?

 

Can we do a summary post, with the specs? Price, wattage, lumens, warranty, color, and then even though it's not 100% the same, some photos?

I tell ya, I was looking at a lot of stuff on this thread and the last thing that stuck in my mind was the latest Hikari's. That fence at the end of the road being lit up like that and the overall beam pattern on the garage wall being so defined, the spread, the throw, the color, the fact that they were not so harsh and more just, damn how can I describe it, it was as if there were little lights with the same brightness shining along the entire area of light so things close to the truck were just as illuminated as things farther away from the truck and I think I decided for myself that it was much more pleasant to look at.

I would have to go back and look at the pics of the VLEDS to be fair though.

If I had to second guess anything, it would be the damn fans. I fear I am gonna run into trouble and be that guy that has problems.

 

From some posts that have been posted on various forums about Hikari

Pros

• The amount of light and perfect focus given by the lights are fantastic. Furthermore, they give a good white light – no yellow tinge. This is because of the amount of lumens (brightest available) these lights produce and the 6000k color temperature (which is great for producing light with high contrast).

• When in high beam the low beams stay on, producing a “great amount of light”.

• The lights produce “zero dark spots and great cut off” – this because of the AI Frequency Technology included in these lights.

• The price is very good in comparison to other lights with similar specs.

• The lights are very well made.

• The lights are easy to mount. It can take as little as 20 minutes to complete the installation and you generally do not have to remove anything else to complete the installation – much like replacing the light with a normal halogen bulb. This is made possible by the fact that you just need to plug the lights in – there are three prongs and you cannot really go wrong. The on-board CanBUS CPU Advanced electronic shielding technology means that they will just work with nothing extra needing to be done.

Cons

• Some flickering of the lights have been reported.

• The wires have been known to come undone and although the unit is waterproof, the wires are not.

• When used on “country roads” where there are no signs and road markings for the lights to reflect off, and particularly in the rain, the light tends to be absorbed by these surfaces, making them not as effective.

Lasfit LEDS

Pros

• These LED headlights are durable and last longer than the halogen lights. This is due to the high heat resistance that these bulbs have.

• They are cheaper than the equivalent halogen light bulb. These retail on Amazon for $82.99 to $87.99 depending on the size ordered.

• When compared to HID (High Intensity Discharge) bulbs, there is no waiting for them to heat up to achieve full brightness. As soon as they are switched on they are at maximum brightness.

• These bulbs are brighter when compared to HID bulbs.

• They are dead easy to install – with a reported installation time of 15 minutes for both lights. Many LED kits come as a plug-and-play accessory – this bulb is no different. In addition, what makes this bulb stand out from the other LEDs is its small size, making it even easier to install. Most other LED kits have an external voltage driver box that goes in-line with the plug. The LASFIT LED has this all included in the design. There are no adaptions that need to be made, as there are in many of the LED headlight kits that are available these days.

• The customer service received by some people that have bought the bulbs has been exceptional.

Cons

• If, after installation, the fan does not work, then the unit needs to be turned 180 degrees and plugged back in. This, in the bigger scheme of things, is a minor inconvenience.

• In some cars, there have been issues with the bulbs fitting the housings for the lights – although these are few and far between.

Auxbeam F-16

Pros

• The lights are very bright, very white and work perfectly. There has been concern regarding LEDs around their throw distance, but these LED lights are very comparable with halogen bulbs in this aspect.

• The design of the bulbs makes installation very easy. It can take as little as 20 minutes to install these bulbs. The connector is specific for the model chosen for a specific car and fits snugly and securely.

• The road and the signs show up much brighter when using these LED bulbs than halogen bulbs.

• The value when compared to products with similar specs is very good. Other products of similar quality can cost up to double the price of these bulbs. They retail at Amazon for $51.99 and $55.99 depending on the size.

Cons

• The decoding function of the CANBus may not work for all vehicles. A known incompatible vehicle is the Mini Cooper. This is something to be aware of when looking at purchasing this product. Make sure that your vehicle is compatible with the product before purchasing it.

• These only work well in vehicles with projector style headlights. A halogen reflector style headlight will give you great light, but will blind oncoming traffic.

I think I would rather accept a tad less light from the Auxbeam than deal with these 3 cons of the Hikari's from above...

Yep that’s what’s holding my back on the Hikaris

 

Most of the PROS for the Auxbeam and the Lasfit would also fall under the Hikari because those are just PROs of LED vs OEM bulbs.

Are the Hikari CONS pertaining to the older Hikari's, or the new ones too?

 

I haven't experienced any of the cons using my Hikari's. Very happy with them.
