About to head off to college on a full scholarship but I'm trying to save my money. Basically spent 60% of my money on a DCSB OR and it's paid off. I go offroading with my friends at least twice a month. So the question is: should I buy some tires/wheels or a suspension upgrade (2.5" king coilovers, Dakar leaf, and uca)? If I buy the suspension upgrade I'll have to wait a half a year to get new tires because I have a budgeting system to save up money.

Wheels and tires and use the rest for beer!

Leave it all stock and use money for gas and trips.

With how much college tuition/room/board costs are now, I don’t know how people justify a new truck purchase. Especially considering college parking lots are notorious for door dings and body panel dents. I drove a clapped out Honda. Perfect car. Or a 1st gen Taco would’ve been great as well.

He might not be old enough to legally have the beer.

I think rock sliders should be the first mod if you're going offroading unless it's fire roads but I would doubt that because you wouldn't need tires or suspension for that.

    Congrats on the full scholarship.

New tires on the stock wheels if money is burning a hole in your wallet. What makes you think you might need anything over the stock OR package? It's fairly capable straight from the factory.

Study. Save. You will thank me later. Your stock truck with stock tires will take you much further off road than you have courage.

Go with a cheaper suspension upgrade & tires. Skip new wheels for now.

Front 5100 level for 350$ and new aggressive tires. Just remember both lift and new tires drastically decreases gas mileage. I got 12mpg today in the wind

Yeah I just invested in a front and rear dash cam and put the sensitivity to high in park mode. Also replacing the oem predator steps with sliders next month

I live in Florida and sometimes the manmade hills are steeper than what I am capable of. Need to fit in larger tires for a good height and also prepping for high clearance stuff to help. I dragged my hitch receiver on the ground too many times already lol

I was highly considering this as a cost effective method but was worried. With the 5100, should i also get uca's?

Nope. Ucas recommended after 2.5”. 5100’s wont get you there. So just adjust them to level up front an inch inch and half and easy peasy ran that on my 2015 no issues.

I think I might just have to do this and run some ko2s+leafs(sometimes I haul some heavy things). This actually fits nicely in my budget right now. And then after I get the extra money from my scholarships I'll switch em out for some better shocks. Thanks man.
