This particular probation gig isn’t too bad as it’s a desk jockey position watching GPS bracelets and portable alcohol machines real-time. I’ve been trying to transfer to a P.O. job last 4 years but I don’t know or donate to any politicians.

 

Best of luck to you. I had the same issue breaking into probation at the same agency. Ended up taking a PO job in another state.

 

I’d post the go-pro video if i wasn’t concerned that it’d be graphic/morbid. It was literally a matter of 2 seconds from no deer, smash, deer under truck and skidding across the other lane. Throws you off but I had a near-death experience in a hemi ram about 10 years ago that practically bent in half around a pole...numb to events like that at this point.

 

It just seems like a money grab, 2000 plus people took the test at $100/pop every few years. I passed the test and pre-screen interviews just haven’t heard from any local courts; yet. Radius was 50 miles; not moving from our “forever” home and not driving into Boston everyday.

 

Totally no defence for something like that. Yeah, bad weekend here for animal collisions. Plastic, shrapnel, & blood trails everywhere.

 

I understand.
I was much younger and single when I made the move. Came back for more money and family, but got stuck working the correction side much longer than anticipated.

 

What’d you make the move to if you don’t mind me asking?

I hit a deer a few years ago. Dealership body shop gave me a brand new Highlander for a week

 

13 years lvl 5 max I worked down in the RHU/SMU for 5 years before coming midnight. They are combining parole with DOC I here they are going to hire about 70 POs I thought about switching I have about 15 years or so till retirement.

Most of our parolees will do anything necessary not to go back... I usually have a few on my radar at any given time overnight.
Thing that sucked about working with juveniles was how commonplace suicide watches/attempts and transports were with no 24hr onsite medical. Used to get forced 2-4x a week.
