The dealer has had my truck for around 12 weeks for various issues and problems. But they nor toyota will look into anything and they state the truck is fine. I've had two other people drive my truck and they hate it, and the one actually refuses to drive it now (hes 56 yrs old and has been driving manuals a hot minute.)

Like I said, this is definitely NOT my first manual, and I traded in a manual truck (ranger) to get this thing... I just can't get anyone to figure it out lol. I also learned manual trans driving in the WV mountains so I feel I have pretty good clutch work. Unfortunately it's a lease so I'm kinda stuck since I don't have anything for a trade/down payment for a new truck. Toyota has denied any warranty work and they've denied my by back case. The dealer wouldn't let me trade leases either. I guess I need to take the GF's Dodge to the dealer and pretend to be interested and drive another MT.

I'm not trying to start anything but I think a lot of this comes down to technique. When I first got my truck it was rough around the edges as I learned how to drive it. Every manual I've ever driven is different. You have to practice with it to get smooth as butter. You can't just hop from car to car and be butter smooth in all of them. Too much variance. Also I'd recommend not being stubborn. If what you are doing isn't producing smooth results try something else. Just because it worked on one car doesn't mean it can or should provide the same results on a different car.

The two MTs I currently drive on a regular basis are very different. Whenever I drive one for a long time and then transition back to the other it takes a solid 15-30 min to get smooth with it again. And then that same day when I get back in the other car I'll have to re-sync with it. Each car requires a very different technique and it easily took months for both cars from day1 ownership to really get to smoother than automatic level.

Not questioning anyone's ability or experience, but I honestly find this MT to be VERY smooth!! I am not sure what I am doing, but since I jumped in day 1 at the dealer December 2016 with ~15mi on the OD this MT is butter. I also drove a 2015 Used Tacoma ~30,000 and I found that to be very smooth as well.

Nah. My 2007 Audi A4 6mt is way smoother to drive. But I still love my Tacoma.

Never driven an Audi, so my Taco is still the smoothest "I've" ever driven. ;)

I took delivery of my 2017 late Oct '17 as well. I think I just hit 2230 on the way to work tonight.

Funny you mentioned wanting R after 6th.
I've finally gotten used to it, and then nearly F'd up when I went to drive my '97 Taco. R is after 5th, just about tried to go to 6th!

I have driven a few Audi's, BMW's Porsche - and these all took me a few minutes to get used too. Don't get me wrong they were fucking incredible to drive and rip around, but to get them butter "smooth" for everyday driving it took me a few minutes.

I find the Gearbox to be butter smooth too, there was 1 mile on the odometer when I got it and the ease of shifting was the 1st thing I noticed compared to my prior 2nd Gens, major improvement. I think the guys that are having issues are not having problems with the "Gearbox" itself but probably having trouble adjusting to the lack of torque on the low end.

I've posted this before but I feel like this a more appropriate place to ask this question...

Anybody else feel when they're in 2nd and accelerating the rpms tend to bog down the truck and then jump up thus allowing the truck to move quicker at that point? It's the most odd thing to me, but no issues other than that.

I was teaching my Ex-GFs Son to drive my Truck but him constantly trying to stop without pushing the clutch in or shifting to Neutral put a stop to that cause I didn't want him tearing my truck up.

I was trying to teach him while she was still my GF, and yeah I was blue in the face saying "push the clutch in", lol. A new girl that would like to buy me a Truck would be nice, gonna have to look hard for that one!

    maybe? if i understand you.
there's a big jump in gearing from 1 to 2, and so it dumps the motor from the powerband to under it in a moment. so, it may feel a bit "boggy" but i wouldn't say it's actually bogging, when the motor starts to lug a bit. it's just below the power band and you have a lot of catching up while your foot's in it and the mechanical advantage is against you at low rpm in 2nd.

i have tried to spin up 1st more so i'm spinning above 4k when i let it out into 2nd as a solution, but i've noticed a significant dropoff in 1st gear above 4k or so. it doesn't drop off like that in power in the other gears, only in first. it's weird. i never noticed it before until i decided to start spinning up first higher and it wouldn't do it. it's like it severely leans out above 4 or 4.5k in first gear. i haven't spent too much time playing with it yet.

Sooo... Just picked up my truck from getting the CKS/CPS or what ever people are calling the sensor recall now days recall done...

In my short 1.5 mile drive home... It seems far more responsive and taking off from a traffic light it actually lurched forward instead of lugging...

More time will tell. But I'm surprised.
