Yeah yeah ultimate red maps so I can buy those too and do a comparison between white and red, then decide who wins. I can't say I will go red though, there is ZERO trouble finding things in the dark with the white lights.

Honestly, the VLEDS are a little better with regards to even spread, they have LEDs on the end of the bulb and all around the perimeter, so out on the doors, there is more even lighting, but less total output, so your lights are for sure putting more light into the cab in total. Way more towards the center console and seats.

Bottom line is while the spread is not as good up front, there is so much light coming out, that it is easy to see everywhere around the cab.

You know I had some killer LED Bulbs before the MeSo V1 map lights and the spread was way brighter than the V1's. However, the V1's were designed that way so make sense. The spread on the Ultimate though is crazy. I mean you can see from the pic i posted with the door open how far out of the truck the light shines and visibly. I can see all the way down the sides of the seat clearly. EVERYTHING is lite up. No problems finding things that dropped between the seats. Definitely, agree that the hue is more than 6k that's very obvious. For me, that's not an issue at all. The light is still very clean and crisp. I know some are very picky or just have a particular way they like things. So there will be some that will prefer the light output to be a bit more "warm" and closer to the 6k and under range.

For me, I am more than pleased with these and you did a killer job @mesojdm. I like rubbing it in for all my non-Tacoma driving buddies. There is nothing else on the market like these.

Yeah I’m with you on the ultimate light output. There is just a ton of light coming from them. I’d call them 8K. What do you say?

I’m happy with them. I’m using them. I would consider them a close match to the factory LED running lights which also have a little purple tint.

Here’s the difference in the V1 smoked maps (left) and the ultimate maps (right). Holy shit.

Yeah I'd say they are pretty damn close to the factory LED running lights on the 17-18 Tacoma's. Honestly, id call it maybe 9000K. My Raptor style lights on the front of my truck are a "cool white" from Oznium and they say thats 9000k+ and they look pretty close to those.

    Warm White 3000-3200K
    Neutral White 6000-6500K
    Cool White 9000K+

Add me to the list of happy customers. Thanks @mesojdm for the great products! Much appreciated!

Also, I have a set of the V1 smoked map lights (that I ordered at the same time in case the ultimate maps were too bright) available at cost. PM if interested.

Quick question, does the dome light housing just pull down from the headliner like the map light housing?

I'm thinking about modding the dome light to only be controlled by the switch (doesn't turn on with doors being opened). I noticed from a previous post that it requires the housing to be pulled down to disconnect one of the wires.

    Thanks in advance!

The dome light has a clear lens cover that can be removed with a small flathead screwdriver. There are two small inverted tabs that you can fit the flathead into and pry downward. The Ultimate dome replaces that clear lens completely.

The entire housing doesn't have to be removed for the maps or the dome light. Some guys have gone that route, but just popping off the clear factory lenses is super easy and mesojdm's products replace the clear lenses for both dome and maps lights.

This video should give you a pretty good idea on how to get this done.

I've already installed the map and dome lights. My question was regarding the modding of the dome light to change the behavior of the switch. It seems I'll have to get at some wires that are behind and was curious on how to lower the dome housing to get at the wires.

In order to change the way the switch functions the dome light base housing must be removed. After the lens is off, look up inside and there is a plastic tab on each side holding the surround in. Push them in with a flat head and pull it down. From there you can rewire(like I did) so the switch is turns the dome manually on/off.

@mesojdm definitely does some bad ass mods, the force is strong in that one.......that's for sure.

All I know is, when I was a kid I had a Cream on the Outside 75' Eldorado and it had a red bulb in the dome. That was the shit then, and it is most definitely the shit now nearly 40 years later!
