We're looking into adding the ability to assign gauge presets that could be called up by the user. The main hurdle is figuring out how these presets would be called up by the user. All of the buttons have specific functions while on the gauge screen, so it's tough finding a way to insert a 'pull up preset gauges' function. We're working on it though.

Oil pressure, as far as I am aware, isn't reported. There is an option for Engine Oil Temperature that's worth trying. Message me directly for the XGauge I have for Engine Oil Temperature. It's somewhat experimental, so I want to avoid posting it publicly.

Unfortunately there's no way to tell a ScanGauge's firmware outside of plugging it in and checking the firmware version screen. However we'll always update units for free if they're purchased recently, and we try to make that update process as quick and easy as possible. $119 is a pretty good deal though, which helps make up for the update turnaround time.

These codes work for my 2014 Tacoma... the scangauge website says toyota/lexus/scion 2010+

    Transmission Temperature 1 (Degrees F) 2010+
    TXD: 07E02182
    RXF: 046105820000
    RXD: 2808
    MTH: 00090005FFD8
    NAM: TFT1

    Transmission Temperature 2 (Degrees F) 2010+
    TXD: 07E02182
    RXF: 046105820000
    RXD: 3808
    MTH: 00090005FFD8
    NAM: TFT2

TFT1 reported to be the trans pan temp
TFT2 reported to be the trans converter output temp; this tends to be higher under acceleration and varies more. At idle they tend to read the same.

James... thank you for updating my two Scanguages with the lastest firmware. Was able to get the transmission pan temp TFT1 to work, but unable to get the second transmission temp guage TFT2 to work. Ive tried all combinations that are available on your website for Toyota/Lexus but no bueno. Any idea what codes to use. Have a 2009 4.0lt. Thanks again!!!

I think the torque convertor temp is not available on the early 2nd gens. Don't know when it started though.

My '13 does both. However, it's possible your '09 does not output both.

I've found that mine are close enough together (10-20*) that I only display one for normal use now.

09 does not have both, just the one (pan temp only).

I just purchased a scan gauge today for my 09 and tried to program xgauge to read tranny temp. No luck. I did scroll thru screens and found my version to be 4.42.
Its that the problem with not getting tranny temp?
I'd love the free upgrade to get that plus TPM values. Can you help me out?

Here's the link for the Xgauge commands. Either you did something wrong, or you're using the wrong year commands.

    https://www.scangauge.com/support/x-gauge-commands/toyota-lexus-scion/

Here's a link that shows the firmware versions. You didn't quite make the cut to be able to show TPMS. See the Linear Logic post above.

This would be an awesome addition to a already great product.

Why not just utilize the “Home” button for this? A press of 1 sec or less ‘pages’ through multiple preset gauges. While a long press of more than 2 sec returns the user to the home screen.? This could be easily incorporated in a software update.

I get both trans temps with V4.42 on a 2014 Tacoma. Check what your setup in xgauge.

    Thanks.
Was totally my bad. Miskeyed one of the fields.
I was totally impressed however as I was contacted by liner logic to follow up on my problem which included an offer for a diagnostic tool and follow-up.
Perhaps this gauge costs more than some others but the customer service makes it more than worth it

I just got a scangauge and was wondering if it was able to read a manual trans temp or is it for automatics only?

    Pretty sure it's auto only.
Lots of other important parameters to watch however.

I've been running my ScanGauge the last 2 days with the tranny temp codes and have been learning what appears to be normal for my 09 Double off-road. I plan to begin towing a TT with this truck and wanted to be able to fully understand the impact on the truck while towing. These are simply general observations which may or may not be expected.
At first start of the day, tranny reads ambient temp. (totally expected)
During the first several miles of driving, temps fluctuate wildly both up and down and seem to fluctuate with shifts. I observed the temp jumping or falling 5-12 degrees at a time.
After the first few miles it settles between 122 and 126 cruising around 55 on undulating roads at ambient temps between 60 and 70.
Step on the throttle to achieve a down shift and temp immediately begins to climb. Once it upshifts again temps begin to fall immediately but might settle a couple degrees higher.
With every downshift, temps jump, even while coasting downhill (very surprising to me).
Driving slowly ie through parking lots, etc adds heat to the tranny.
As the truck sits parked for 90 mins (same ambient temps) temp in tranny does not cool.
My biggest concern is that many people say while towing to not use drive but 4th. My observations however show that top gear delivers cooler tranny temps so I'm not sure how that will play out

Generally; if you keep it under 200F you are ok. However, YMMV, that depends on the fluid you are running.

Drastic changes sounds like converter temps and expected.
