always looking for increased storage space in the taco...
I was looking at the wireless charging area, and thought that, that space is way to big for just charging a phone.
could someone build/make a shelf that fits into that spot, and will provide a shelf with a front lip on it? I'm thinking about just a U shape piece of plastic, so I could put stuff above my phone when it's charging...
I could make it out of thin wood, but wouldn't go with the blacked out theme I have.

    thanks in advance

    Pics?
I have a 3D printer but it's the designing of the item that is the difficult part. If you have a design, you can get a number of places, including some UPS stores, libraries, and sites like shapeways, to print it for you.

Some high school shop classes, and community colleges have 3D printers as well. Just need to chat with the particular instructor of the class.

Also keep in mind 3D printing is very slow still. Most of my prints take 3-6hr and I'm not printing anything very large. So asking someone for a favor is actually a bit of a time commitment.

That said, Thingiverse has some cool accessories for our trucks.

I think the best thing about this site is all of the hidden websites that people use. ie: thingiverse
    thanks

If you can take the measurements for me and sketch out what you want it to look like I can create a 3D file for you.

I believe most public libraries have 3D printing labs that are free to use. At least here in San Diego a few do.

    None as of yet
get a thing of polycarbonate sheet from homedepot for a few bucks and make one from plastic instead of wood and some RC car paint in black or maybe even get some felt from a craft store if you want to try and give it a more finished look that wont scratch off and keep things from sliding around in it too much.

On a filament (FDM) machine, that would be really simple except for the lip. It would be stupid expensive on a resin (SLA) or powder (SLS) printer.

Hit up the Salex guy, he’s on here and could probably do something like that.

This seems like a project to look into!

The light might cause some concern

DIY using Tinkercad.com - A free online design program that makes files for 3D and laser cut, and you can order printing and cutting on there too (for a price). I’d think for a shelf, you will want it laser cut instead of printing- it’s a large area to print.
