Oh yeah, it was totally safe, just removed nut few threads at a time, loosen the clamp for press table & it'd nudge up a little, re tighten ,repeat...

You'd think huh, but think a minute, if guys run 2nd gen OME 883#s on 1st gens with no issue, it fits fine on perch the i.d. & o.d is pretty much the same, there's minimal preload so you benefit from almost all the coil length without the horrible preloaded stock 1st gen progressives have.

I mean obviously King/Icon/Fox have nothing to worry about but after driving on these for a few weeks now , not a terrible mistake, the ride is somewhere between an OME & a Eibach....

    ahh no..

883s are the exact same length as 881s. Just 90lb heavier in rate. Turned out to be better for 1st gen than 2nd gens in a lot of ways. Which is why most 2nd gens run 885 and 886 coils.

Im just saying. Yes longer is usually better but too long is not good. If you hit them hard and the block height is too tall. you're going to break them.

I can appreciate that, we're only talking an inch in length , like I said, on road ride is good ,firmer for sure but doesn't want to take off on you like a pogo stick if hitting a bump/dip/hole on freeway at freeway speed, no unusually weird characteristics , no crunching, grinding, knocking or other unwanted front end noises as a result either..

I wouldn't recommend this MOD for anyone except those who can do it & reverse it if it doesn't meet their liking, but I def. wouldn't condemn it either

the spring rate debate again. Fuck it.
I'm running 882's and guess what, they are fucken longer than the 881's and the 883's.
Prolly the same length as the 3rd gen coils that were just posted.
    And they ride fantastic.
    Stop with the unsubstantiated opinions.
    end discussion.

Just saying that if indeed they are 1" longer. That is longer than 882s

882s are only 20mm longer. Or just a touch over .75.

All of this is mute though as I have no idea what the block height is of any of these springs or of the shocks. Haha

Yeah could have been, we were out at snoqualmie falls a few weeks ago.

Hopefully it's just the mixing valve or a blockage or something. If the heater core isn't leaking, you might luck out.

I was planning on putting it on floor, unless that's a waste of time?

I don't think you would yield much results. I'm sure you know but the way this sound deadener works best is to stiffen up body panels that would other wise resonate a lot. The floor, with all its bracing, brackets, seats bolted to it, etc is already very stiff. That's why it's recommended to put mass loaded vinyl on the floor... it'll do a better job of "absorbing" the road noise.

Doing the roof, doors, and rear panel and if you can parts of the firewall will help a LOT though.

I agree but at the sane time I don’t... hoops look way bad if they’re shaped right, if that makes sense

I like having a full set of hoops, looks aggressive asf and saved me a few dents when I had them but they stuck out like 4 feet on my old bumper which was kinda annoying.
