I’ve used Atlas, but my go to is Dencol now.

If you need random small stuff you can get scrap and misc pieces at K&K Surplus for 50 cents a pound.

I've been using C&M Iron. They're near Hampden and Santa Fe. No complaints, they cary some DOM and HREW tubing. They also have a recycling center next door if you have a bunch of scraps to get rid of (and by that I mean they'll only pay you if you bring in 500+ lbs)

And you can buy out of that scrap pile if anything in there suits your needs. Their prices aren't the best but beats any longer of a drive

Like a lot of fire-related things, it's fun and it's not. Typical day working a fire is: wake up at 5am, eat MRE. On the fireline by 6am, maybe 7am if you have a bunch of briefings. With the exception of lunch and a few short breaks throughout the day, you are pretty much working until about 10pm. Eat another MRE. Go to bed. Repeat.

And then of course it's pretty much just mitigation all winter long. What I *should* have done, as a dumb 20-year old, was pursue smokejumping.

You'd also be surprised at how hilariously political it is (just like the rest of the fire service). Crew boss's father's cousin's grandfather's other grandson's nephew's friend from college's newborn just got his sawyer? Cool, he's on the crew now. Lol.

Politics are a hell of an annoyance for all the first responders. :(

Just wait until they whip out a tide pod for a snack on the fire line.

There is (or at least was) a midget on one of the departments around Denver. I have nothing against people with different physical makeups, but I have no clue how he threw ladders. Really hope he wasn't on a RIT. Then again, I also know a guy who's 5'2" and is stronger than just about every guy on his crew.

We used to make MRE bombs to piss off the crew bosses. It's too bad they removed that heating element from the MREs.

Yup it’s a big annoyance I tell ya.

“Hey Capt, we got you a snack, sure is juicy” :D
There is no way a midget could throw ladders or be RIT in any form, physically impossible.
