What about this style off of a 4runner? I saw a set somewhere around here for $250

What’s your primary Floyd? Different brand? Different size? Both?

I think they're pretty cool! And they'd look even cooler if they were powdercoated a darker color.

Soft shackles are awesome. They work well with D-rings. Why eliminate the option of using the D-rings? Even if you think you never will.

I agree with this mentality. It's always good to have as many options as possible when it comes to recovery because you can never account for all scenarios.

Primary is Keeper brand. Same 24k lb rating.
For some reason I’ve grown attached to it and trust it. I bought several years ago when they were still made in the USA. I think the new Keepers are foreign made. Don’t quote me on that tho.

I had a similar concern. What if your soft shackles break and all your Wheeling partner has are d rings?

I'll always have the hitch mounted DRing and the ones on the front. But the rear bumper is in progress and I figured I would not put DRing mounts

Ah, I thought you were doing away with the front ones too. Makes more sense now.

I carry a hitch one too, just in case I need it for someone else.

Yeah. If I put soft shackle mounts on the front, I might as well keep the d ring mount too.

But how about this for a thought? Can't the d ring go onto the soft shackle mount also? Unless you wouldn't want the sliding action back and forth (would be only a couple inches at most)

I agree with having various recovery point options.

I have two extremely beefy D shackles rated at 6.5 tons w/ 7/8” pins that I want to use on my bumper shackle points.

Instead of the standard 4.75 ton w/ 3/4” pins that are the standard D-shackles that all/most of us currently have.

I would trust a 6.5 ton D-shackle attachment point for soft shackles -> recovery strap or winch line.

The problem is that my bumper shackle point is designed for a 3/4” pin. Drilling out for 7/8” might weaken the bumper attachment point, even tho it seems that the 1/8” difference in hole size seems insignificant.

I need to figure out best way to strengthen the drilled out recovery point before proceeding with my plan.

Add a new point for the 7/8 shackle...
