Brand new '18 Limited - Every call I've made/taken so far, the recipient says they can hear themselves echo...like really? I've had to then put them on speaker. This day in age and they haven't mastered noise cancellation so the speakers don't feed back into the mic? And no, I am not going to turn down the volume. Did not spend $40K to fudge this crap!

Anyone have a similar problem and if so, how was it resolved? Entune firmware? I searched the forum and found nothing on this issue, but the web shows a whole lot of people complaining on Toyota and Apples websites about this issue..

As a side note, my volume is normally on the low side in the first place.

As soon as I upgraded from an iPhone 6 to an iPhone 8 I started getting the same problem. I have yet to find a solution. Bluetooth calling is unusable for me now it’s so bad. I’m eager to hear if anyone has a fix.

Picked up my first ever Tacoma on Saturday. Everyone complains of feedback echo. I have tweaked the transmit volume and receiver volume. Still happens. Using iPhone 6s. Awaiting a fix as well.

    Too much.
I get echo on my end when I talk to my parents in Louisiana. Only when I call their landline though, not their cell. Annoying AF

Actually mine is so good no one can tell I'm calling from my truck! Now, my brothers 2018 Honda Ridgeline is crap - I can't even talk to him when he uses hands free. But he's got Carplay (big whoop!!)

I haven't received complaints of an echo but I have an issue hearing people ie. I have to crank up the volume on the Phone (iPhone 7) and crank up the volume on the stereo to faintly hear the person on the call. I have some hearing issues but even then it seems really bad. In my former F-150 with Apple Carplay I could hear callers LOUD AND CLEAR and I could talk very quietly and they heard me crystal clear.

On the 'receiving' end of vehicle calls to my cell phone, I've never had anyone call me from any vehicle that sounded particularly good.

But maybe their vehicles just aren't ritzy enough?

I just bought a 2019 and I'm having the same issue with people telling me they hear an echo. Did you guys find a work around for this?

4Runner Trail wheels and Toyo Open Country ATII tires 265-70-17. Cosmetic stuff like Pro grille and OffRoad black bumper trim, vinyl delete on side, added hood graphic, OEM tube steps.
New Camrys had the same issue and Toyota was replacing head units.

I'm getting a lot of complaints about echo in my 18 Limited. I haven't gotten the TSB yet. Last time I was at the dealer they couldn't download it for some reason. It seems like restarting the radio (holding in volume button) and restarting the phone helps sometimes.

It seems like the echo has gotten worse over the past few months or least the number of people complaining at me about it has gotten larger :)

Same issues with mine... 18 TRD OR with premium sound. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow. I’ll let you know what they say.

Wow! That might have done it! I’m going to take a drive and try it out while on the road.

Yes sir! Mad rep's to St0rm-Tr00per. That fixed my issue. I never stumbled upon that article until you posted it.

I have to keep my car volume at 38 and turn my iPhone volume up to high. It's perfect now.

You just saved me a ton of time tomorrow by not having to go to the dealership!

Glad to help!! I experienced the same issue when I first got my OR several months ago and stumble across this in the “sticky threads” section of the forums. ToyoVL actually posted the PDF of the tech tip first ... I just converted it to an image for ease of reading.

Having the same echo problem with my 2-week old (right off the assembly line) DCLB OR. I'll have to try this fix. I assume if it was a known hardware defect with the headset, Toyota would have fixed it before my truck was shipped. But then again...
