and precisely the reason I had questioned transfer. I went for engineering (wasn't sure the discipline) and that's why I chose UAH because they offered so many options including some other schools don't. Once I settled with Mechanical though I thought to myself I wish I had gone and gotten the full college experience with the same education elsewhere. Having scholarships to places like LSU, Auburn, etc obviously didn't help the thoughts lol. Had I only been accepted to UAH it would've been easy to say eh it's my only option.

But if you went to LSU, you would probably be an alcoholic. But you would have had a damn good time!

I think that is what Scotty is kind of referring to. I understand that you go to college to get an education, but I also feel that you go to college for more than that ie; life experiences, growing up and becoming a responsible adult. I am pretty sure everyone can agree that not all college experiences are the same...for example comparing UAH to UofA or something of the likes.

I don't see an issue allowing a student athlete to transfer without losing a year of eligibility, especially when a staff has recruited them and then that staff leaves either by firing or hiring

That player should not be punished if he doesn't want to play for the new staff

I do see how it could create issues in the future with large chunks of teams bailing and such but overall I don't have any issues with a student decision to go elsewhere

only type issues I see are for example....what if Dan Mullen had taken like 15 of his MSU players to Florida with him? that would've screwed MSU to no end.

there has to be a limitation somewhere, but cans of worms, fine lines, etc etc....where do you put the limitations?

    for me, it's scholarship.

I like that idea... if you want to jump ship, you can play right away but you lose one year of scholarship.

The hits just keep coming for UGA! 5* OLB flip from Bama, 4* flip from Michigan, #2 CB in the nation...

    Should solidify the #1 class.

I think they get a bit of a pass this year because they addressed needs and once again are stuck replacing coordinators. But, they need to get back close to the top next year or those wins won’t come as easy. If anyone wonders how important Kirby or even Pruitt was to Bama, look no further than us slipping in recruiting this year. I also wonder if not having a DC named hurt us. Either way, we will likely be seeing GA and Clemson again next year with OSU in the playoffs. Exciting times ahead.

Unfortunately, I talked to some Bama fans yesterday and this was how they were taking it. "Saban just got beat in recruiting, he's done....he is going to retire before next season starts....yada yada yada."

Our needs were met....our last 2 classes OVER filled our prior needs. Its the first time since 2010 Bama wasn't the top class yet we still ended with a top 5 class (depending where you look). Not taking anything away from Kirby Smart and UGA. That is a hell of a recruiting class and i would be damn proud of it but I will almost bet my house that UGA doesn't have anything close to that next year. Not to mention, they haven't had to deal with assistant coaches leaving or multiple player transfers. I was talking yesterday about the few players we lost to UGA....they are decided whether they want to go to Sustained Power or Rising Power. You will be remembered more if you join the rising power and defeat the sustained power so who can really blame them. But now we are at the point of developing the talent and I have yet to see anyone able to develop/process talent like Saban. Roll Tide and may the countdown begin!

    202 days til 2018 kickoff!

Yeah well, LSU got some players (who may or may not have played football before), so take that.

Quite honestly, Kirby was the main reason Alabama had that run of number 1 or 2 classes.

Saban's job, is to assemble the best coaching crew to be competitive in all aspects of college football, be it in recruiting, development on and off the field and game time. He has created absolute MONSTERS in the recruiting vein, and the coaching vein.

Attrition is tough. Saban is tougher. Bet he has a number 1 or 2 class next year. Tosh Lupoi will be making the rounds.

Think about who Saban has lost from his coaching staff, in terms of recruiting.

    1. Kirby Smart
    2. Mario Cristobal
    3. Lane Kiffin
    4. Jeremy Pruitt

These are well known recruiting gurus. Well known. Kirby and Lane are probably THE best in the business respective to their interests, defense and offense...
