    Howd the job interview go?

Man I had rat problems bad at my place, and i have a cat...only thing you can do is block every fcn hole they can get in w wire screen, clean up and remove any plants next to the house then do a couple rounds of trapping. Problem is rats are smart fuckers and you can only successfully trap them with a system once, then you gotta try something else. I also bought new garbage cans cause there was a hole in the side of mine. No more rats man! Trapping rats outside is a waste of time and virtually impossible. All you can do is remove and clean the areas they may live on your property...

@mercurymullet showed me the ropes to desert riding. It's so much fun out there! Had arm pump within 15 minutes of riding though

    I dunno.
Have been far from hospitable and killed many of their friends yet they are still here.

You would think after they saw cousin Larry's head turn into pink mist they would get the hint that they are not welcome. No such luck so far.

I have now taken to parking my truck in different spots on the property to try to throw them off.

I have heard that if you wet the wires in the engine comparement and put cayenne pepper on the wires. The pepper will stick to the wire. Rats don't like it lol

Dude i read your posts, and youre kinda fucked with outdoor rat problems. I wish you the best of luck. We had at least 50 or more rats living behind my fence and i had four different remediation co.’s tell me the same thing, we cant get rid of em. Only if they are in the house can we stop them. Ive read with outdoor rats you can try laying a shit ton of traps unset so they get used to them in their envoironment, then after a week or two bait them unset so they start feeling comfortable eating off them, then after a week of that set all the traps and have one mass killing night, you can keep setting em but the rats wont fall for it much after that...u then have to change strategies...they suck, i ripped out all the underbrush on my hillside and watched a mass rat herd run away...was nasty but has kept them at bay and they are living somewhere else

We did the same thing about 6 months ago. Ripped out about 2,000 sqft of mature junipers that were a haven for the damn things. We also tore out a pond that partially dug into a hillside. The space under the supports was like a friggin rat apartment complex.

But they are amazingly smart and observant little critters thats for sure.
When it started getting really bad we put out a half dozen live catch traps (I have small dogs so I didn't want to use snap traps). We also have a weasel that visits on occasion, didn't want to get him either (he eats rats).
    Nothing for about a week.
Then we were getting 2-3 a night, then 3-4 for a few weeks.
    Then nothing.
Like they learned to avoid the traps.
    Switched to bait stations.
Not a nibble for about a week
Then I started seeing dead/dying rats around, had to restock the bait stations pretty often.
Then all of a sudden the bait was untouched.
Almost like they figured out the bait was something they shouldn't eat.
Same deal with pellet gun rat safaris.
Go out at dusk with pellet rifle and flashlight, look up in fruit trees.
See/shoot rats. Got quite a few, dogs finished off a few stragglers.
Then we stopped seeing them hanging out up in the trees.

But yet they are still here.

Never once seen a rat or signs of them in the house. Hopefully getting my shop built and all my cars/trucks inside will be the end of this ongoing nightmare.

The reason most pest companies cant handle infestations like this is that it usually involves more than one property. What often happens in there is a large rat nest, at night the rats come out to scavenge and spread out in all different directions. Like most scavenging animals they have routes that they will continue to use until the area is over populated or the food sources in the area are gone. You put out traps in the areas on your property where you see the rats, they die, and you're rat free... for a while. The problem is there are still rats using other foraging trails, and they will continue to use these routes and breed until there is no more food or the area is over populated and then they reappear. To truly combat them you need to get the neighborhood banded together to help fight the war. Everyone should use steel trash cans and lids for ALL food trash. Trim fruit trees and palm trees so branches don't touch the ground and surround the bases with a moat of glue traps. Place snap traps, bait blocks, bucket traps, etc everywhere around the neighborhood. Supplement the traps with hunter options such as feral cats, owl boxes, and owl perches. Also rats can't see in the red spectrum, Amazon sells red led varmint lights and it illuminates their eyes really well when it hits them. This becomes much harder when you have neighbors that don't wish to cooperate or they don't want to kill the rats. Another helpful link here https://www.youtube.com/user/historichunter

Do your pets and your local wildlife a solid and be smart about your poisons. The fancy "second generation" poisons, especially end up getting around when pets and wildlife eat the bait or the rats killed by it. My mom's dog was almost killed by rat poison put out by her neighbor a number of years ago and countless birds of prey and other predators are killed by poisons. And what good does placing the owl boxes do if the owls are killed by the baits/poisons that you place?

Apparently the second gen poisons have been banned but can still be used by exterminators, so be sure to look into the poisons any exterminator uses so you can prevent any problems with your pets.

Here's a long but good article with lots of background info on impacts of the more lethal second gen poisons and here's a link to an organization that describes the poisons that are still available that are harmful and plenty of alternatives if you explore the site.

    Good luck with your infestations!

Anybody good with framing suggestions or ever attached siding to a shipping container before?
I’ve trying to find the best and cheapest way but it seems like I’ll need to frame out the entire container and nail off to them, damn that’s a lot of lumber.
And then I need to do the roof.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

How about a power rivot tool?
Drill holes and bolt the siding on?
    Weld siding on?
    Or glue it on?:hattip:
Not sure those are time savers but would save on the wood.
    :notsure::cheers:
