Went into town today to refill my sissy overlanding-type propane tanks to power my sissy overlanding-type furnace and my sissy overlanding-type LP generator, get some sissy beer, get some sissy overlanding-type italian sausage and an onion to fry on my sissy 3-burner stove in my sissy overlanding-type trailer. All done with my candyass Toytec Boss lifted '08 EFI V8 4Runner with power windows, powerdown rear window.

    Feels damn good. ;):)

Just know that you "all" on the mainland "continental US" are lucky to have areas to drive to and explore off road, go camping or whatever its called, but be in nature with family/friends. Here you have to get a permit to drive off roads and get a permit to camp wherever that might be. I think driving until you decide "This is a good spot" is an awesome idea and reminds me of being a kid and walking through the wood with my tent and thinking here is where I will sleep tonight.

A lot of places in this area of the 48 attached states requires buying a permit, unless it's a dedicated private owned park.

It's getting more and more limited here too. All those local redneck hillbilly folk that like to just toss their Natty cans wherever are pissing off park rangers n such.

The are off road parks charge a fee, I'm good with that. You best believe I have no problem paying whatever small fee a National Park charges for a OHV premit, usually less than $10.

I would classify it as mostly self-sufficient back woods / off road travel by vehicle. The stuff that Expedition Overland does would be a prime example. I see short and long duration camping trips as an opportunity to sort out my vehicle and equipment so that I will be prepared and properly equipped if I ever have the opportunity to take a long term off road trip. Kind of like taking self defense classes just in case you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to use the skills.

I fill your pain. I lived on Oahu for almost three years and wasn't impressed. People who've never been there look at me like I have a D!@# growing out of my forehead when I tell them I hated living there.

I love living here but also miss parts of the mainland and the "four seasons" and the fact that Tacoma is the number one selling vehicle on the islands so finding a decent price is very hard with one toyota dealer. Got here in 1988 and never left.

BLM land is what I look for or national forest dispersed camping, gotta love the western US because there is so much BLM land. I always carry a dog with me so I can't stay in a campground. Dog doesn't like being on a leash and I don't like leashing the dog.

On BLM land do they have places you can plug in an espresso maker at? Asking for a friend.

What about Starbucks...do they have Starbucks in the backcountry with free Wi-Fi? Got to have a double espresso, skim milk, with two pumps of what the hell, along with a cinnamon scone when I'm roughing it.

Hmmm, I'll have to look. Never thought about it before since I bring my own outlets with me. I have outlets with AirWick air fresheners plugged in, smells all violet like instead of nasty outdoorsy dirt like.

That’s not entirely a bad thing. Who here has had poison ivy/oak on their jeweley bits? Anyone? I assume many have. I have had this many times. So some of you know what I’m about to talk about... and that is the hot shower water on the severely affected nether region. The release of chemicals in the body when that happens drops me to my knees. Almost worth having it honestly.

Way too often. I played baseball from the age of eight til forty-five. Ate dirt many times trying to take an extra base or trying to not get picked off trying to steal one.
