I am looking to repaint my mess grill due to the fact that it is fading and has some chips in the paint. Ideally, I would like to get it coated with line-x or rhino lining but they quoted outrageous prices for such a small job.

I would like to pursue other options. I would like for it to be black, durable, and fade proof. Some that I have been considering are as follows:
    1. Rattle can bed liner - Suggestions for brand welcome
    2. Rattle can body paint - Suggestions for brand welcome

I do not believe plastidip will be a good choice because I do not want to have to keep touching it up.

    Any ideas welcome!

Do you happen to have a handheld electric sander and a 4" angle grinder?
I have almost the exact same mesh grill with the band around the edge and after a couple years it became faded and started to rust in some spots. I used a sander to bring the outer edge to bare steel (removing all rust) and ran a wire wheel on a grinder along the mesh to rough up as much as I could. Used a 2-in-1 metal paint and it came out like it was brand new.

*Edit: I used a Krylon brand spray paint; Primer and paint in one. I used it for my Ditch light brackets and they have held up great for the past year. Preparation is key to having a lasting paint job!

Looking at the picture, I remember now I actually used a sanding flap wheel meant for a drill.

First I wire wheeled the mesh section with a 4" angle grinder, then sanded the lip with the flap wheel, which gave me a brushed steel texture. I taped off the lip and painted the mesh portion

Hmm I will look into this! How well do you feel the paint will hold up? Also, did you have any issues getting even coverage across the mesh?

Wasn't thinking of the actual monstaliner, but their rust encapsulator. That's what I tried to link you to anyway. It's similar to the POR15 mentioned previously, and should work fine on a mesh grill.
