60’s Sears Allstate “Luggage” / Off Road Trailer?

Yup.

 

The track width on mine is 6’. Truck is 6’6”.

I would’ve made my trailer a little bigger, but the size was predetermined.

 

The RV is gonna be a little big.

 

You know? The more I think about it, I don’t think I’m going widen those original fenders and use them.

As much as I’d like to see the trailer that way, it’s just not practical. I think I need to make fenders that aren’t going to bend when they’re up against a rock or a tree.

 

might have to fab a frame out of small square tubing, they wont end up being round, but sturdy af! could always incorporate a bit of a step at the bottom end like a normal utility trailer has and then weld a sheet of steel to the frame plus u get to play more with welding and angles

 

I need to get my truck back together in the AM. After that, I need to bolt a new gun safe in the house. Then, maybe I can get back to the trailer and take another look at the fender situation.

 

what are you doing to your truck? or will I find out soon enough in the build thread?

 

I sent the third back to ECGS to get some work done to it. Leaky ARB, etc. just need to put it back in.

To lessen the bounce

 

ohhhhhhh gotchya yeah that makes sense man, would it bounce that much tho being on such big tires? I know I see trailers bouncing like a kid in a bouncy house when they have tiny little pie plates as wheels lol

 

Running lower tire pressure with all that rubber between the road and the rim will help too.

I’ve been busy.

I really want to use these original fenders somehow. I cut them and bolted them on.

I can’t decide where to go from here. I can widen them, order 4-1/4” rubber flares from Low Range and add them, or cut more of the lip off and run them as is.

My truck will shower the trailer with whatever is on the road anyway.





Got the body bolted to the frame with 1/2” grade 8 bolts.


Safety Chains

Picked up the 20 gauge sheet metal and skinned the roof tonight. It looks a little silly with the giant washers. They will be replaced with smaller stainless ones pictured below. I ran out... that’s seventy 1/4-20 bolts. All stainless. If it’s not grade 8, it’s stainless on this trailer.

As you can see, I have a lot of bolts to cut off. I was scrounging around using every stainless 1/4-20 bolt I could find. In the end, I was using 2-1/2” bolts to hold sheet metal together lol






I thought I was going to have to buy a drop plate for my Pintle, but it actually matches up great.

 

I’m getting close to blowing this thing apart for paint. I’m going to make a simple roof rack tomorrow.

After that, a rear bumper, and figure out the fenders. Then, the fab work is done.
