I'm slowly but surely backing away from the "OMFG I've lost EVERYTHING!" precipice. A long, long time ago I set up an automated backup process for the now-dead box. It was set up to copy to a NAS (network attached storage) system we have on the home network. The problem was that all of the logins and passwords for getting on the NAS were on the dead machine. :annoyed: A real catch-22. I finally found a login that worked and, lo and behold, there are recent files on the NAS! Apparently that backup job was working all this time. It will still be a long road to recovery but perhaps I won't have to resort to paying a small fortune to have someone try to recover files from the dead disk.

Next up: research how to try the recovery process myself. I think I'll wait until the new machine is doing what I need done, then go at it. I'll keep that freezer trick in the back of my mind. ;)

    Evening all:
Ordered some jig heads from a guy on ebay to make some custom bucktail jigs for Walleyes. They came today :woot: and I figured I would be tying some up, but when I opened the box up they weren't the jigs that I had ordered and they were supposed to be sent to a guy in NY who probably received the jigs I ordered! :( :annoyed: Second time this has happened, remember the carb!

    Morning all:
Welcome snudley, pull up a chair on the porch and fill up the cooler!

Gary, I emailed the seller and he acknowledged that they made a mistake and that the correct jigs were already shipped and should be here tomorrow, will see! He said to keep the jigs that I had already received, which are 25ea. of 1/2 and 3/4oz. shad head jigs with 5/0 hooks for swimbaits, I may be able to find a use for them in the river. "IF" I get the jigs I ordered, it looks like I got a bonus!
I have another option, I could contact the guy that probably got my order and see if he wants to trade, that way both of us would have 2X what we ordered for just the cost of shipping, OR I could just keep a few and give the rest to my fishing buddy Jim! :D

I like the way you are thinking.

Sounds like the seller is a stand up guy.

Hi All. Welcome Timothy. Like Carl said, Pull up a chair on the porch and grab a cold one.
Great news on getting the right hugs Carl, I would give him an outstanding rating on EBay for his quick remedy of the mistake. I have only bought on eBay once and had no issues, but have heard too many horror stories. Glad it came together for you Carl.

Starting to get crowded in here. Maybe we should think about a "hummingbird test?"

Eh. Nah. Pass me a beverage.

Howdy! How's everyone doing? Trying to plan a short excursion into the woods this weekend! No one wants to drive any distance from home because of potential bad weather. Nearest decent off road park or trails is more than 2 hours away....Until March 2nd anyway. An old park near Mammoth Cave is re-opening! (Until another dum bass drains his/her motor oil into a creek that feeds into the cave system and the EPA forces the park owners to shut it down (again) That park is about an hour from home. Living near a major city blows....

    Hope y'all doing good.
