I am eighteen months into my 2016 TRD Sport Acess cab with 11800 Mi. on it. I do not drive it so much, ( have other toys) everything about it works as expected, with one exception. When I lay my Galaxy Android phone in the IQ charging station ,no matter where or how I move it the Yellow "charging" light will not come on. this is about 75% of the time. the other 25% of the time it works as expected. This has caused me to complain about this to my selling dealer Service Adviser in person and demonstrate its unreliability( no matter where he put the phone, motor running it would not connect.) He excuses himself to speak to a Tech. and comes back and tells me that there were so many complaints about this that Toyota discontinued using these Charging pads in 2017 and later Tacoma's. Saying further that it was a problem with the vendor.
in other words, I am stuck with it, and theree is nothing he (the dealer can do about it)
Is any of this true ??

    Work in progress...
You have to make sure that it is not the phone cover first. Take the cover off and it should half ass work some of the time, anyhow, that is how it is for me.

I have a 2018 TRD Off-road w/ Qi charging pad and works every time... I also made sure to get a phone case thin enough for it to work.

Dealers story is an utter fabrication. As mentioned though...no case (or a very thin one) and move it to the corner of the tray closest to the driver. If it overheats it will also cut out. All Qi chargers will have issues with thick phone cases btw.

If you use a magnetized phone holder with a metal plate on the back of your phone, it can disrupt charging in the Taco... Also disrupted charging on my wife's wireless charger in the bedroom. She had to invest in a special phone case that allows for wireless charging, but still will stick to magnetized phone holders without the addition of the metal plate (though not as well). Once we changed that, her phone has charged without issue (albeit slowly).

Magnetized phone holder I'm speaking of (also freakin' awesome btw): https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Ma...17459643&sr=8-13&keywords=magnet+phone+holder

Mine works perfectly in my 2017 OR (iPhone X w/Incipio case) Whether I put it in the front left, front middle, or front right of the pad.

And not to sound like a dick, but.......did you use the power button for the Qi pad (I only ask because my dealer's tech said my pad wasn't working when he hopped in my truck, but I noticed he also had not hit the button to power on the pad. Needless to say he was somewhat ashamed haha)

No issues here with my Samsung Galaxy S7 and my 2016 Sport DCLB. I do have a thinner phone case, mind you. Or who knows, maybe I just got lucky.

What model is your galaxy? The older ones may not work or they charge very slowly. The otterbox is probably the main issue.

for what it's worth, i've found in my 2017, my wife's iphone plus + mophie case works if you line it up along the front edge of the cubby.

My S4 charges just fine, I had to install a compatible wireless charging battery cover though and don't use a phone case.

My Galaxy S7 in a lifproof case works fine on my 18. Charges at a fast rate. If I put it in my wife's Camry it charges but very slowly.

My 2017 works great charging my S8. Make sure you have fast charging turned on in the settings on your phone. It is one of the features I love the most.
