welp, a coworker sold his 1997 80 series last night for $3.5k with 300k miles.
I offered him $5k about 6 months ago, he stated that that was too much $$$$.
I asked him what he replaced it with...



a used LR3

I said good luck on that.

 

So what is he replacing the LR3 with? Or did he already buy a flatbed?

 

I was quite frank and filterless and said "do you have buckets of cash, limitless frustration and glutton for punishment to deal with that maintenance nightmare?"

 

The van was like 19k and the actual campers seem to be ~25k

Go get his some oil absorbent mats as a "welcome to the family" gift

... And then, we reached Red Pass, the highest point between Titanothere and Titus Canyons.
We understandably ran into a bit of a traffic jam here - a couple in a Jeep enjoying the view
in both directions; three trucks in front of us, taking the turn slow (for reasons we'll get into shortly).

Can't say I blame anyone for slowing down or stopping here. It was amazing...

We did run the OBDR last year - actually, we tried once in May and couldn't make it, and then returned in August and it was great.

DOT approved beadlocks???? I didn't think there was such a thing -- thought all beadlocks were illegal for on-road use.

I wanted the Hutcinsons for my FZJ80 but never had the $$$$. I would run them on the Tacoma if not for the great weight 42lbs a wheel compared to my 19lbs SCS F5s. All that extra weight is bound to wear out components at a great rate.
