It's holding great so far. Tenacious Tape has an insane adhesive. But thanks for the Superglue tip. I would have never considered it, being that it's a plasticizer and I would have expected it to melt a hole in the pad.

I found it on Amazon. Unfortunately it's only sold in large rolls, so I have enough for a lifetime.

I made a stove board for my snow melting stove that I'm planning to use for snowshoe backpacking. It should help stabilize things and prevent the stove from melting a hole when we're camping on top of 15 feet of snow.

It's a thin plywood board with several coats of polyurethane and an aluminum "no trespassing" sign for a heat reflector/ non flammable surface on the top side. Brass hardware with rubber screw covers helps hold the stove in place.

Hey guys, my father gave me this vintage coleman catalytic heater, and I would like to know if anybody is actually using it and if the heat is decent? Coleman fuel around here is priced at around 20$/gal. is it safe to use it with gasoline, which would be cheaper? I am kinda a fan of accessories working with fuel, and would also like to know if the dual fuel lantern is a good choice, light output wise, and maybe heat wise for a small room/tent (with good aeration obviously)

    Thanks!

I had one like that for my 1959 VW microbus back in '69 in Montana. Be sure to crack a window or tent door. Regular gas will not work well. Multi-fuel stoves that take both white gas and regular use different jets and its necessary to filter the gasoline. Try looking for "Blazo" at a Chevron station. That's what we used to get in Alaska and Northern Canada for our climbing stoves.

Opening a window is a must of course! I don't seem to be able to find blazo in local store. I might give a try with gasoline, and if I like the heater i'll grab coleman fuel and continue with it. Only down point is that CF is 20$/gal lol

There must be a Canadian equivalent available. Check with a big camping outlet.

Coleman Fuel is closer to Naphtha than unleaded gas. You should be able to get Naphtha at a hardware store. I had one of those heaters, but replaced it with a propane version.

If I do like to use a heater I'll probably end up buying a propane one, since most of my camping stuff work on propane, and newer one are more compact.

Wow, probably 95% of all 2018 dates outside of February are already sold out for Havasupai, and the system went live at 8AM MST. There are a few solo overnight dates available but that is about it. The new online system worked well, but it wasn't working on Chome because of a cache issue. I just used IE for the moment and luckily got what I wanted.

I'll be there October 11-14. Did anyone else get a reservation in?

I was able to get April 5,6,7. Within 10 minutes there was hardly any available spots in April/May/June/July. Pretty crazy. It sucks they raised there prices, but I think no matter what people are still going to pay even if they get doubled from what they are now.

I went in June a few years ago and it was miserably hot. I'm hoping to make it down to to the Colorado River this time.

i couldn't get any. Was on my way to work so couldn't try until 8am PST. Was hoping the increase in prices would make it easier to get spots. haha

I am in trip planning mode today. Probably heading back to Utah and Zion in mid April.

And damn, looks like even for solo overnights, only Havasupai availability left now is for February.
