I would say a large portion of the revolvers that weigh less than a commander size 1911 are 5 shot

 

weight has yet to be an issue (as a matter of fact I like some weight when shooting magnum loads) with me but just for fun, how much does the 1911 in question weigh?

 

IDK, but it looks cool.

 

Well, the ones I carry have aluminum frames and weigh 28 oz unloaded

 

Which is only 13 oz heavier than my S&W 638 airweight unloaded.

well that's cool, Taurus has a 7 shot .357 with a 4" ported barrel that is advertised at 28 oz (the tracker, I think they also call it a 627 but don't quote me on that) they also have came out with a 692 with a 3" ported barrel that is also advertised at 28 oz. and I know S&W has the 686+ which is what my carry is based off of (Taurus 66) and my gun weighs 36 oz and I assume that s&w is about the same, they also have a 586 available in 7 shot but its equally heavy.



however even in a 5 or 6 shot revolver, what are 1 or 2 more less powerful rounds at the end of the day?

 

the 692 comes with a 2nd cylinder cut for 9mm for plinkin super cheap too, but since the .357/38 would be able to use moon clips it's not as appealing as it was when I first heard about it

 

are they 1" thick?

I mean that's only 1/4" more imposing, and I wouldn't even call that a "Ms. congeniality" I mean I guess if you are right at the very limit of being able to carry iwb, it makes a little difference, but that seems to be a very specific sect. plus a narrower gun means a narrower handle which means pressure increases on your hand under fire, so its only a win in certain perspectives

oh I see, like if your pants are too tight and you add an extra 1/2" it makes them way too tight?

 

I have baby hands and require a smaller grip. Which is part of the reason why I started with 1911s
