It's roughly gonna cost the same, so I'd rather just do it myself and save the trip down there. Plus it'd always fun to wrench and learn more about our trucks.

True. Dropping that front diff does not seem fun though lol. Gotta do the ECGS bushing while your at it.

Luckily when you have the diffs shipped you can have it come with that bushing already installed! Not like it's hard though. I just did it the other week. Now those diff seals on the other hand......

I did it last week on a buddies truck and I would have to say the exact opposite lol. I have seal puller so that was the easy part. Getting the damn bearing removal tool in the hole was difficult.

It really helps if you sand off one side so it's more rounded. It took me about 5 minutes to get the tool in place and get the needle bearing out.

    upload_2018-1-29_23-30-6.jpg

You also didn't need a rear locker which adds $900 to the bill. That's good though, because I was gonna ask what you paid out of curiosity. Overall it'll be about $2300 if I do it myself with a rear locker, so a bit less than going there. Makes sense since they don't have to take the truck apart.

Yeah i used a BFH and pounded that thing in there. It worked eventually. $2300 isn't bad with a locker. ARB?

Yessir, that's with an ARB rear. I'll have to front the $800 in core charges, but that's not a big deal.

Any luck finding a rear locker axle? I kinda want to go to that pick your own part place soon.

It did take them from 8am-5:58pm

I honestly haven't even looked. I think I'll just wait and do the regear and the arb since I'm sure that's the route I'll eventually go anyways. I'd rather just save myself the effort and money and do it once.

edit: but if you want to do to the pick and pull, I'm down for a visit.

Which pick and pull? I went to one near Elkridge if I recall. It's pretty close to Arundel mills. But it wasn't good for Taco parts

I don’t know why they don’t just throw it in for free since they know our needle bearing is shit.
