A properly functioning watch does not eat batteries. The lubricants in the movement have dried out. Search back a couple pages to my post linking Timecare. He will get your watch back to correct.

If the watch has any value to you - either $$$ or sentimental - try to take it to an authorized jewler for the brand. They should have the proper tools to do it without damage. I made the mistake of taking my wife’s movado to a jewler that wasn’t an authorized movado dealer and they bent the back cover and scratched the case. Did it right in front of me and was like well that just happens. The watch was a gift to my wife for the birth of our first child so I was pissed. Took him to small claims court and won and had movado repair it. My bad because I was in a rush. I’ve always taken my movados to an authorized dealer for batteries. They have a full set of movado case cradles and case back presses to prevent this. Never a mark left on mine. Lesson learned.

Bobs watches is a great place. Very well reputable and has great selection, especially some vintage pieces. Id also look into crownandcaliber and therolex forum. Id be very careful and do a lot of research on the place your buying it from due to the amount of fakes out there.

Try a Seiko solar. I have had mine for several years with no issues, and I wear it while working and doing just about everything else. Love the Seikos, you could tow a car with the stainless bracelets. They are pretty tough. The Submariner is a sexy watch though  Wish I had the bread to buy one.

I hate to hear about your friend. I’m sure you cherish the watch and keep it in memory. I know I would.

What is wrong with the watch? Is it just cosmetic, or is it not keeping time?

Unfortunately my band wore out which was rustic brown leather with white contrasting stitches, so the stock one is back on it. Inexpensive watch that always gets questions/attention.

Tissot Titanium T-Touch Solar 1853. This is my daily watch and has literally been through hell and back. I've had it for about three years now and it still looks like it came out of the box. Before I retired from the Fire Dept we averaged around 2500 runs a year on our unit. It's held up through temperatures and abuse that most watches will never see and has never given me one moments worth of trouble. It just works and I think it is a really nice looking watch and I highly recommend Tissot watches.

I have a few other watches also ( 2 Luminox, Tag Heuer Formula 1, and a Victorinox Swiss Army) but the Tissot is the one that is almost always on my wrist. Never needs batteries since it's solar and it just works. One day I want to get a Breitling but I've got other things that I'd like to get before dropping that amount of coin on a watch. I've "personally" never been a fan of Rolex watches. They just aren't my thing for some reason.

Sorry for the shitty iPhone video but here are just a few of the touch screen functions of the watch.

That is pretty cool. I have seen these before, but never knew they had all those functions.

Everything is run from the face of the watch. The compass function is pretty cool and seems to be extremely accurate. You can set alarms, change from two different time zones, activate the altimeter, run the timer, etc... The watch face is touch screen but also sapphire crystal so it won't scratch. I suppose you could scratch it but it would be very hard. Since it's titanium it's surprisingly light given its size. I personally like large watches (which I suppose is one reason I'm not fond of Rolex watches). And the one nice thing about titanium, if it gets scuffed on the band or clasp you can just take a scotchbrite pad and buff it out and no more scuffs. So it always looks new.

    I’m rockin a G tonight, too. MTG-M900DA.

It an ugly little guy, but it’s the most comfortable G Shock I own. It has a metal bracelet, and the micro adjustments on the clasp make for a nice, precise fit. I also love that it is solar and atomic, and the auto backlight makes for easy glances in the dark without having to press a button. F3617F74-25DE-4E3E-BB27-A688A41E254F.jpg
