Maybe at that point, you might say that the dakars are flexy enough?

so I could potentially just run some B110 in stock location with the HH and gain more droop then stock, but I wouldn't be optimising the set up as much as a relocate would essentially

They’re more flexy than stock, but out of the major aftermarket leaf packs, they seem to be the least flexy.

Surprised you aren't running the B110s already. I calculated all my stuff out with my deavers and went with them. It seems like your set up is similar to mine and the 110s should work fine for you

Yeah, but no need to get the hh. You’d likely still be maxing out the b110 and really wouldn’t gain anything from it.
When I bought my lift it was the stock leaf pack with an aal. I just haven’t upgraded yet is all.

My beefy deavers are surprisingly very flexy I thought they wouldn't be

my last question I promise! hahaha would it be worth getting the B110 since I am only running stock leafs with a progressive 3leaf AAL?

the 110s are really just an upgrade for a higher lift more travel stock suspension over the standard 5100s. If you want to relocate get the 5150s or another 14" shock the 110s will be max drooped out with a relocate and you will get very little droop

Maybe! A good way to know is unbolt the shock from the axle, and then jack up the truck from the hitch until tires are off the ground (keep an eye on brake lines). If there’s a gap between the axle and shock, that’s how much longer you could go. The b110 are 3” longer than standard 5100.

Ok here is an anwser that you can find out for yourself what is your current ride height, what is the length from shock mount to shock mount. Then take the shocks loose let the axle completely sag measure again shock mount to shock mount. Now fully compress the rear measure again your shock mount to shock mount.

Now take all these shock mount measurements and compare them to the specs of 5100s, B110s, or other shocks. As a rule of thumb you want the shock to be sitting at ride height with about 1/3 of its travel in bump and 2/3 in droop. You will be comparing the measurements to compressed length and extended length. Now be careful shock companies vary on how they get these measurements.

Long answer but gets you going with the basics of understanding shock selection and suspension stuff

I haven't even installed my lift kit yet

I wouldn't really want to do the shock relocate, I would really just like to get more droop out of my "stock" set up. I don't want to drop the money on a new leaf pack. I'm just trying to figure out what route would be best for my needs. I don't really wheel often, only hit up a few trails a couple times a year so I don't need no crazy ass droop, but I would like to have more droop then stock. I don't want to spend thousands, I just figured if I could get more droop with the HH and some longer shocks on the OE position then its an affordable way to obtain it. I don't have a cap or ever have lots of heavy weight in the back so a new leaf packs to me isn't justifiable at the moment lol but if I will get the same amount of droop with longer shocks with or without the HH then I wont bother with the HH

You are going to be limited by your springs more than anything. You would end up needing bumps to limit your up travel greatly thus making the shocks useless. see explanation above

Good call, and that’s the way I’m leaning. Even though I wheel a lot, I don’t think I do hard enough stuff to necessitate dropping that kind of coin for some more droop.

I built a lot of different stuff in my days. When we were circle track racing I was the chassis and suspension guy. You learn a lot about a lot of mythical math and guessing engineering. Suspensions are a non exact science really it's more this is a base to start then adjust based on trial and error.

is that because with a longer shock and stock leafs with AAL when sitting at ride height the shock would be sitting at more then 1/3 of its travel in bump? I don't even know if that made sense but I hope u get what I meant hahahaha I did order some superbumps if that's of any consolation hahaha

EDIT: I would essentially have less uptravel left in the shock at ride height, so I need bumps to keep from bottoming the shock out

I really don’t think you’d have to worry about limiting uptravel anymore than an aftermarket leaf pack. I know a few people who run the b110s in stock location and are fine with that (both running flip kits, but you will be too)
