That battery looks like a sealed battery. Was it an optima or other agm type battery?

Actually if it wasn't for the neighbors that showed up with a fire extinguisher and an additional hose, problably would have lost the house as well. But I asked them and all they saw were the smoke. No cameras.

Something seems...off. I would have a friend (so they think its not you)call the alignment shop and casually ask them if they use torches to loosen cam bolts. Or see if you can contact the tech that did it directly.

Whether the fire was started by a short / battery malfunction / leaks, it definitely started on the driverside of the engine bay.

Do you have fire coverage under your warranty? If not, it will be next to impossible to point fingers at anyone and will have to chalk it up to shitty circumstances. Silver lining is they caught it in time before it got worse!

I know its tough or impossoble looking from the pictures but, is it worth trying to bring it back or just salvage what i have left by selling/junking ? Reason being is because i have taken mechanics/shop owners and ask for a quote or if jts eorth fixing. Most of them have said it isnt worth but, and were quick to offer to buy it from me. So im iffy on what to do. Suggestions?

The guy running the joint will deny, deny, deny when accusations are made. You gotta work around him to catch him if hes lying. Or hire a lawyer. There's gotta be a camera system on the floor of that shop. If hes so sure of himself, he should show you the footage.

Are there many junk yards available to you? Mainly tacomas that have been totaled from rear impact accidents, or maybe roll-overs.

It was the battery. Probably an internal fault. There are two reports of Optima batteries Catching Fire that I could find with a casual search.
