VW engine. Adjust the valve clearances every oil change. At least you don't have to change the coolant though.

edit: but i like them. Set it up for dirt use and i bet it could go more places than a Tacoma.

    and put the radiator?

edit: You got a line on one? They've gotten a bit pricey now that Porsches are through the roof.

There is definitely a way it’s just yet to be found. Put it in the trunk with the motor and use an electric fan

Yea, a guy in H.S. had a Baja Bug with a Ford 2.0 but it overheated a lot. Hard to get air to it.
edit: prob. help with a regular trunk by putting a giant snorkel.

    That's what the baja had.
    edit back seat was radiator.

Helps that motorcycle engines are oil cooled more so than car engines

Another thing this car has, other than personality, is crank windows and a manual transmission. These are things most kids these days will never encounter.

Best engine to use in a VW.......Corvair. Unless you can find a 911 engine.

I really don't know enough about them to remember how they got airflow. Enough for a couple hundred HP anyway.

It's sweet as is. Like i said, I like them. They had a better rep, than the 914 in those days. Nicer looking anyway.

I know the side vent idea doesn't work too well. Gotta get it from top for a motor swap.

Buy them some 3rd gen v6 Camaros. They'll learn how to keep them running and eventually work really hard to get a better car or work really hard on swapping in a V8. They are cheap too. I'm guessing they would be easier to get parts for then a 60s vw.

A 305 3rd gen is a good car. They're known to last if cared for.

edit: Usually not beat on like a IROC

Air Cooled VWs are awesome, I learned how to work on cars by messing around with them as a kid.
