Sometimes a vehicle has issues. Hell read on here all the issues and horror stories on the 3rd gen. I have a 16 diesel Colorado z71 and been good truck. has 53k on it and 2 yrs old at end of this month. Since my Cement off road order dealer messed up now i wasn't ordering again and now waiting info on the pro s from show on the 8th to make my mind up

My fiance’s Nissan Rogue is the same way. I’ve had to use it a couple of times, and whenever I do I ask her, “What the hell is this, I have to hold the switch the entire time my window rolls up, what are we peasants?” Mainly I just do it to remind her that there is a reason that I always insist that we take the Taco.

This is interesting. I seriously considered a ZR2 when I bought my Tacoma. There were a few things that I liked, and there were a few small things that drove me crazy. Ultimately I missed the inferno and sunroof of my Tacoma, and I wanted something that I could really make my own. The ZR2 is pretty much done. You’re not going to lift it when you pay for that suspension, I don’t see much in terms of aftermarket parts coming out for it, and I also didn’ think the ground clearance was very good. The sales manager at Chevy argued with me that the ZR2 was in an entire different class than the TRDOR. I told him he should learn his competition (their sales staff didn’t know shit). I said that the TRDOR and the ZR2 were closer than he thought, and that eventually I’d put the money I saved on the original purchase back into the Tacoma and would have something that was more off-road capable than the ZR2.

He was probably thinking that the Pro is direct competition with the ZR2 and the Off Road versus the Z71.

Yeah, he didn’t know the difference. He really didn’t know much about either. I was telling them about most of the features of both trucks. His big thing was that the ZR2 had front and rear, although he didn’t believe me that the TRDOR had a rear locker. The fact is that Chevy doesn’t have a real competitor for the Off-Road. The Z-71 is a little bit, but not really, its trim and some suspension, but its really closer to the Sport. I will say that I liked the sound and power of the ZR2, but I would have hated the gas mileage. I don’t regret my choice. I am interested to see what the Ranger Raptor and Jeep Pickups are like. But by the time they come out my truck will hopefully be so far from stock I won’t care.

Friend of mine works at a Toyota dealer, they have 2 ZR2's trades. One owner went Tacoma OR--ZR--OR. Other was 4Runner Limited--ZR2--4Runner TRD Pro.

The leather was showing signs of wear with 1000 miles on the odometer...

The radio was updated. The freezing was due to streaming Bluetooth audio. They basically said it was normal and my wife's SS sedan does it also. They say it's processor is underpowered for everything the radio unto does and that's why it freezes.

I had plenty of other issues. And while I did hear about them the stories were accompanied by photos as well and they were enough to make anyone concerned when you own the exact same vehicle.

Weird, i have 4000 miles and have no issues. Leather looks the same as when i got it.

No radio issues ever. True, the electric steering worries me as my truck does see offroad use and plenty of water.

Lets talk about the best thing, when you offroad them and the side air bags go off, up to 3-4 cares of that now

    Was yours a 17 zr2 or 18?

I briefly thought about the Colorado until I realized all of our GM patrol vehicles are constantly in the shops for this or that. One of our 2014 Caprices is on its 3rd motor with less than 70k on it.... Another one had only 40k on it when it had to have a new camshaft and other internals replaced. Even the Tahoes seem to have their share of issues. Not to mention the mylink is garbage and the interiors are cheap plastic.

Both the Taco and Gm twins are too new to get anything right. I still kinda regret not going for a Frontier Pro 4X. After 14 model years they pretty much ironed out all the kinks.
