Doubt you’d notice much any significant weight difference in components or steering. My wheel tire combo is 137lbs a piece and in my opinion it’s a positive. Lowers your COG

Maybe I underestimate the strength of the Tacoma running and steering gear.

Anyone have a recommendation for a shop to install some UCAs? Third Gens have a pair of bolts that are a PITA to remove. Have an appt with Auburn Offroad on the 13th but would like it done beforehand if possible.

What bolts are they? I thought the suspension was almost identical to 2nd gens

@STacoS will be able to arcticulate it better than I can..but one of them is real close to the battery tray and would either requiring bending of metal or cutting the bolt to get it out.

It's not that bad. It just takes patience and some vice grips to bed pinch welds out of the way. Don't be a puss.

That place is right across the street from my girlfriends work, drive by it every day. Always new and I retesting imports. I keep telling myself I don't need an R32 Skyline, but in a few years (when they're legal) I know where I'll be looking for an R34

It's worse on the 3rd gens than the 2nd. Everything I've read says that it requires cutting and I don't have the tools to do it.

I know some has a third gen with aftermarket UCA’s on this thread.. is that true?

We did my friends Lexus gx470 and took us 45 min and that has a ton of plastic and Crap in the way. Can’t believe it has more than a Lexus

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
You can do it with out cutting anything, trust me. You're going to invent new swear words though.

I cut the bolt and slid the bolt in the other way. I used loctite. Will put a locking nut in the future.

Did you have to cut the bolt? Or if you bent the sheetmetal out of the way, take the battery out could you slide it up barely?

Yes I cut the bolt. You’ll need to bend the sheet metal if you don’t cut the bolt.

Brad bent the metal but when we tried to put the bolt back in it was catching so we put the bolt in the opposite way where the nut is on top.
