So, after reading through this thread for the past couple days and all this about the Taco's rear suspension, I am so happy that the 4R has coils and not leafs.

Oh but there is so much modifying you could do to that as well like move the mounting points of the arms and make it a long arm suspension like jeeps do!

Nice! Even more of a reason to give them my business. I would rather do business with the east coast guys than west coast!

True. But for now I can just stick with doing extended travel shocks and coils, extended brake lines, and bump stop extensions and call it a day.

For someone who doesn't have a winch and need self recovery, is it better to use a highlift or a come along? (I know those aren't meant for recovery but ...)

Bored and have time to ask questions for a friend:homer:

Don’t you already have a front hitch spot?

And of the two I’d probably want to use a come along since that’s it’s intended purpose.

No I don't, but want to build one! I am eyeing a 5T come along that would be great to be added in my tool kit. I just don't know how to deal with the lenght of tehe cable. Recovery point could be further than the reach of the come along. Thought about getting a synthetic winch rope, which I can tie to the come along, and shorten it with knot if the need is there. I'd be more adventurous if I had recovery stuff lol

From what I’ve heard, using a come along can be a real pain in the ass. I have a cheap $300 smittybilt winch that works well, and would recommend getting that and a hitch tray for it.

Using a winch a lot of times it’s beneficial to drive the truck while recovering, but if you’re alone that’s not possible with a come along making things even more difficult

have you used a hilift? mine jams from the dust collecting in the pins and when they do i have to shove the truck to topple it over which can be a scary thing, they need regular maintenance. Buying a base plate isa must if you use it on trail. Nothing replaces a good winch.
