I never get any nods. Only my fiance does when she's driving

I used to have a Wrangler and did the Jeep wave. Half the time the other Jeep wouldn’t wave back, so I felt stupid.

When I first got my tacoma, I tried a Tacoma wave once, and it felt lame. Now the o lay time I wave in my tacoma is when I see a hot chick driving in the other vehicle

Jeep owners want acknowledgment that their decision to drive a relatively unreasonable vehicle is not unique to their own ignoring of that voice nagging about the Jeep's lack of practicability. A wave signifies... yes, we made the same impractical decision to buy an uncomfortable, low mpg vehicle that shines used off road that we'll rarely use as designed. But they wave with a smile so let them eat their cake.

Tacoma owners are like, "why you waving, I got shit to do."

Funny, I was thinking about this very thing while driving through a blizzard on the way to work this morning. 3 weeks into ownership and not a single wave. Got a little nostalgic about my Wrangler days (2 JK's) and compiled a comprehensive list of all the things I miss about my Wranglers compared to my my new Pro:

    1. The wave
    2. uhhhh...

And there's the complete list. Think I'll take the initiative and start waving at ALL Tacos that I pass! Do unto others...yada yada yada.

People of NJ don’t wave to each other unless there is some type of mutual benefit.

I’ve had so many wranglers, and I hardly wave. Most wrangler owners these days (40ish year old women) need the validation, and will literally post on our north Texas Jeep club Facebook page saying “you in the black JKU, WHY DIDNT YOU WAVE BACK”

    Annoying.

Currently driving a Duramax and had a guy do the "sup bro" peace sign at me a while back. It was weird.

I think Subaru is probably a close second to Jeep in terms of owners waving to one another, more specifically the WRX/ STI crowd, When I owned them I got a ton of waves or general acknowledgment from fellow drivers everywhere I went. I think the community in general is pretty tight for today’s antisocial everyone hates everything mentality. When I switched to a BRZ though I got no respect lol.. I do throw a wave if I see a modded Tacoma on the road, I’ve had a small success rate. Its not so much hey Tacoma guy but more acknowledging I appreciate their taste in mods and what they have done from one car guy to another.. But I also do that to other brands I see as well.. I have also had a Motorcycle since I was 17 and although I don’t always wave it is such a common thing to see or do on a bike I guess when in a car it’s not that unusual to do the same.

Used to get the "wave" while driving my VW Bus, even from non-VW people, especially kids....cause basically you're driving a cartoon...

Occasionally get it from other 1st Gen Taco owners, and I think to myself...not sure if Tacomas have reached "the wave" status. They are cool and all, but are they iconic as an air-cooled VW?

Ride motorcycles too, but I ride dirt bikes...occasionally have to pound slab to connect a trail or get gas...feels weird when a Harley guy waves at me...I am covered and mud and dirt, maybe a little blood... just got done dodging, rocks, roots, and trees...out there trying to kill myself, and he is taking his fat ass on leisurely stroll.
