    yes..yes you will.

should have done it purely because it makes the front diff stronger. Something that is very helpful for when you put on..oh i don't know..

Well, if I have a lack-of-locker induced front diff explosion, I'll replace it with a locker. ;)

Hmmm. That doesn't make sense. Maybe some pre-existing damage that just happened to break loose in that place?

    :notsure:

I hit a big dip that hit hard too and caught possibly a bit of air. On the landing, total lock up and skidded to a stop confused and puzzled on why that had happened.

Does it make your axles stronger too? This is the same swirling circle everyone goes down of you make 1 thing stronger which causes the next thing to be weaker which causes you to make that thing stronger which causes the next thing to be weaker. Not saying the diff should be a weak point but is the diff weaker then the axles? On 35s open diff, how common is it to break a front diff? On 35s locked diff, how common is it to break axles? I can answer those questions for a 2nd gen. I can't imagine they are different for a 1st gen.

Well. Id much rather break a CV axle that you can easily carry spares for and swap out on the trail then a diff.

This isn't that fun to do:

[IMG]Alberta Bound!-53.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

had to drop the entire front diff which means ripping apart almost the whole front end, the gutted the diff and put it back together.

The 7.5'' front clamshell in our trucks vs the 8'' clamshell in your truck is much weaker. 33s will break CV axles. 35s will break axles and diffs for us. Which one goes first? well..one would hope the CVs. Im on tundra CV axles(long travel) so they are way stronger then tacoma axles, which could have help nuke my diff no doubt.

But i didn't have a locker in it when it blew.

Who knows what would have happened if i did.

Either way the ARB or Harrop makes the diff much stronger. He will have to be careful wheeling it no matter what.
