Getting ready for TB job. 04 TRD V6. 155k miles. Planning to get the kit from Aircabinman, with the 3 fan belts. Also plan to clean throttle body, valve cover gaskets, cam end seals and what ever else comes with the kit, also plugs and wires.
1.What else am I forgetting about for this age service-to do a good job?
    2. Broke the PCV valve and the grommet is hard as a rock and split a little. Can you get this part any place besides a dealership?
    Thanks to all who reply.

PCV valve grommet I've only gone to dealer. Check rad hoses really good. Replace if they need it. Use the correct or factory coolant.

how are your cam cover gaskets? They are prone to leaking. Tearing all that stuff apart might as well tear that apart as well.

Make sure you have a good tool for tightening the crank pulley bolt back down. There's a thread on DIY ones, I think it's a sticky...

It took me 2.5 days. I have a couple of younger kids and a social life, so I wasn't working on the truck 100% of the time, but I'd plan a long weekend for the job. If you have a buddy to help, that will probably make a lot of it go faster.

Go ahead and remove the rad. Part of my time was wasted trying to "save time" by not removing it.

I did mine last summer at 130,000. I left the radiator in and in my opinion , no issues with leaving it in. To break the crank pulley bolt. I used a breaker bar and laid it against the frame and hit the starter real quick and with a loud squeek the bolt was loose! I had a heck of a time getting new timing belt back on. Ended up getting it all lined up and removed top left cam sprocket put remaining part of belt on the sprocket and had my son help bolt the sprocket back on and it was set. I think i used a pair of vise grips to krimp (safely) the belt and keep it tight so it stopped jumping teeth and getting off timing marks. I bought my kit off Amazon, Aisin TKT-025 $183. Kit is suppose to be same parts factory uses. Bought thermostat (OEM) and Fel-Pro gasket for around$22

I wouldn't mess with the cam and crank seals if they're not leaking already. If you want to, go for it though. Just me. Check these out before you tear into it:

For oem parts like the pcv valve you can get them here for less than anywhere else (besides kits like aircabman)

Good luck. I'll be doing a bunch of work in the next couple months. My Yota has 205k on it and never had timing belt or clutch changed. Doing those, rotors, brakes, upper shock bushings, idler pulley bushing, belts, and who knows what else! Being able to use the lifts on post for $5 an hour will save me a ton in labor, plus my father in law is a mechanic :broccoli:

Yeah, this is what I did. My seals looked fine, so even though they came in my kit, I didn't bother replacing them. I kept them, so I have them when/if my seals tdo ever go bad, but so far no worries.

I believe the crank pully bolt is technically one time use so worth buying another one (OEM).
Metric bolts to pull the crank pully.
How is the noise from your belts/pully’s? If suspect I would order a fan bracket as you will be pulling it off anyways. They are about $70 for an Aisin on Amazon.

I'm not 100% sure its the pulley bearing, but I've read enough posts on here to start at the least expensive thing to replace. And since I'll have the pulley off doing the timing belt, may as well get that done. Its a low whine at idle, and get progressively louder as I go faster, but never loud enough for me to hear it with the windows rolled up.

The Aisin bracket and pulley is $135 on Amazon

You're better off getting it from Low Range Offroad... at least that's where I'm getting mine. It's $119

Actually... Depending on frieght charges from Low Range... and if you have Amazon Prime... Amazon may still be the better deal.

    Anyway... there are options.

I'd see if you can just replace the bearing - it's just a little one in there... how bad is yours?

Looking at the pic, that's the timing belt cover. The whine isn't bad and hopefully nothing breaks in the next month when I can get the maint done. BTW, I'm not a real mechanic, I just know how to do a few things.
