Dude. I’m home sick today and spent another 2 hours researching pizza ovens again. Thanks, lol.

I think I’ve read every DIY pizza oven build page and reviewed every commercial option. Since I have a Weber grill that doesn’t get much use I’m close to pulling the trigger on the deluxe version of this with the top steel. $400 or so looks like, but it does seem to get up to 900 degrees and make great pizza.

I had to look it up also. Sort of seems like a riff on a gyro. Never had this in my canadian travels but now I think I'm going to have to seek it out. :)

Has to be an east coast donair. The shit they make out west isn’t the same.

A donair is basically specially spiced ground beef. It’s packed on a spit like a gyro would be and you shave the meat off. Put it on a pita with tomatoes and onions topped with a sweet/garlicky sauce. (Donair sauce)

The pizza version is the meat, onions, tomatoes on crust with mozzarella and no pizza sauce. You either dip the slices in the donair sauce or pour some on top.

Donairs are a drunken stumble home snack. Haha

I make the meat from scratch regularly. This is the first time I’ve made homemade crust and decided donair pizza would be my first try at crust.

It’s a greek dish that was modified by the creator when they immigrated to Canada in the 70s. The original:

Pizza version sounds good. Some of the best food is stuff eaten after drinking a bit too much.

Should try it full on smoked/cooked in the smoker. It's an awesome flavor. Takes a lot longer but it is GOOD. I have some pics in the smoker thread. I was just looking to see if I had them on this machine but I don't seem to.

Since every pizza place in Atlantic Canada makes donairs and donair sauce, there are a few different sauce recipes as well as different spices in the beef. Everyone has their own preferred place.
