Like I just mentioned, I live in San Diego where Tacomas are everywhere, and I've seen a handful of Inferos. I honestly can't think of the last time I saw one.

It's too bad, because it's a great color.

Really? I'm in San Diego too and maybe I just notice because because its my color but I swear around here BLACK seems to be more rare than inferno.

Especially when I head south... Mexicans freaking LOVE orange Tacos don't know why but I get the most props on the color from mi hermanos :)

Maybe I'm just paranoid. I was honestly banking on Toyota discontinuing it after 2017, hopefully next year.

I would venture to guess it has to do with the profit margin on the vehicle. Generally speaking, I don't see mass produced vehicles in this day and age with sales below 5k a month to be around long as they usually bleed cash unless the profit margin is high

Well I mean, it's a vehicle from a major manufacturer, in a white hot segment, and the sales found a way to decrease. That usually doesn't bode well for longevity.

That ranger is almost as ugly as the Ridgeline imo.

I sure hope so! If it follows previous oddball toyota colors they'll probably make it for 2019 and discontinue for 2020 (like speedway blue and spruce mica)

Inferno. Though, I don't see a ton in MGM (though it's still up there), either. I see mostly the usual suspects by me (black, silver, white).

Man I hope not lol. I think the inferno on the TRD sport is way too much inferno tho. I like the OR with the black and orange.

The parts bin shares so much with the odyssey and pilot and is built at the same plant, so I don't think it required as much R&D as even the new Tacoma. Honda has also always been known for their solid margins... they don't mess with big rebates, 0% financing, or massive fleet sales like Toyota and Ford do.

I also think the lackluster sales are mostly from Honda simply not building enough. I work at a honda dealer and the ones we actually get move pretty well in relation to Honda's own sales goals set per district. Its just we barely get any.

Try to find a base model 2WD 2018 RT ridgeline in CA... there's literally THREE of them! In the entire state! In ANY color!! Search for a base model Tacoma in CA and there will be HUNDREDS if not over a thousand.

So its not like the ridgelines are just sitting on lots collecting dust... we sold out of our 2017s while our Toyota store still has plenty of 2017 Tacomas. Honda just doesn't have any urgency to push volume on them.

But thats also just a part of it, I'm sure there's several reasons.

You blacked out your chrome bumper though? $8 can of plasti dip really transforms the rear of out trucks when you get rid of that fake chrome.

Unless you already have a tech pkg.

Nah plastidip was my savior from the ugly chrome. Don’t even want to imagine my truck with the chrome anymore.

While good points, I'm not sure how long shared parts will keep it around at ~2k/month. It's not a niche specialty vehicle like, say, a Miata. There is no excuse for a truck right now, from a major brand, to be selling that poorly (and apparently see a sales decline).

And I'm not sure I buy that they're just not making enough. If Honda thought the demand markedly out weighed the supply, I can't imagine they would not make more. They're in the business of making money.

Who knows, though. Maybe I'm wrong.

That is my guess as to why it still even exists as it shares the platform, parts, and assembly line with Odyssey and Pilot.
