I got f**ked by the Stealership

A while back, I have my 97 serviced at the stealership for something I have no ability to work on myself.To make it short,when they took the Cap.Assy. Distributor off, they do not put the new O-ring seal back.A while later it started to leak from the engine block.

I took back to the stealership,they told me it would cost $700 dollar something to fix something that they fucked up,plus they told me that wasn't the case. I told them it is. They said it'll cost me $50.00 just to have them look at it again. I say" fuck it". The other day I went to the part service and got the freaking O-ring for less than $4.00 and replaced it myself. Now the leak is gone. Come to think of it I saved over $600.00.That's why I hate the stealership.

 

If I had a nickel for every one of these type stories...............

reminds me of a story a classmate told me, when he was in the military they had to fill these hydraulic rams or something with clean new fluid. well he was, and a co worker came by and threw dirt in there. told him they want to have a job in the next 5 years so add some contamination.

seems to me they did it so you would have to come back and throw another $700 at them to fix it and keep them going.

 

you should take your truck to them and show them what you did and how much it costs, then ask them why it would cost so much if they did it.

I think that's what they were trained to do...ripped an honest hardworkin' people just like you and me of...it's sad but true.One thing to another I have a friend who work in Auto repair shop. One day he forgot to put an oil in the engine after an Oil changed, when customer got it back they didn't check..guess what happen? Who do you think the manager believed? his employee or the customer? let me say this He's still working there..ain't that the shitty situation to be in ?

Ha..well you could avoid those situations if you knew some of the people working at the stealership.
At the local S.Burlington one, Hertiage Toyota, I know 5 of the techs and am good friends with 2 of them. They have given me their prices on parts sometimes (although even that is more than something like rockauto occasionally) and of course, they are always so generous with advice/tips/opinions. I don't ever take my truck there to be serviced though, I do it all on my own.

 

I was told the AC service recharge would be $89 and nothing more. My bill came up to be $156. Things listed were "misc. parts" charge of $9.99. Additional freon charges, etc. WTF..... I left without throwing a f*cking fit because I was in a suit and tie and could be late for my meeting so I left. When they called me back about their service I cussed the manager out and never will I go back to STONE MOUNTAIN Toyota in Stone Mountain, GA.

 

Wow, glad you kept your cool. If I was put into that situation I would flip sht.

 

Man good thing in Cali the Dealers or any Mechanic are required by law to give the customer a Written estimate, and if it changes the customer has to approve it and sign it.

 

same thing happend to me.
they damaged a caliper during a brake job and played dumb but offered offered to fix is for $400.
I took 2 hours and learned how to do it myself for $58. Best $342 I payed to myself

 

Talking about brake's job,there's a brakeshop here where I resided called "Brake for less" they're good at ripped people off,people filed complaints with the BBB, But they're still in business...WTF ?

 

I would do my best to see that dealership not get away with it, it may be too late in this case but in the future DEMAND in writing (on the service contract) to have all old parts returned to you, it may seem like a small thing but you'd be surprised by the number of auto repair places in general that when faced with this request stumble fuck around & end up giving you parts from some other vehicle because the technician or service rep. didn't read the fine print about returning the old shit & a quick parts check by you can pretty easily identify your OEM parts from the ones you got from the shady repair place it has a 2-prong effect: It validates more to your side of the issue , while exposing them for if nothing else sloppy & questionable repair work , Which will favor considerably ,your side if it goes to small claims. (which in this case I think you should've pursued it)

I dunno , just my opinion.......

 

I would have wrote a check for $89, then noted on
the memo line "AC service paid in full". I would have
simply handed them the check & left. If they had
any questions, I would have reminded them it was
them stated it would be "no more than $89".

Thats what was agreed to, thats what they get!

don't yell or cuss - I get it done & done right.

 

There are good and bad people everywhere and in every occupation. Greed has become normal practice in so many places,caused by getting paid on commission,which is nothing more than a license to steal imo..i was told at a toyota dealership my rear main seal was leaking...turned out to be an oil pressure switch I fixed myself for $17.00...Buyer Beware!!
