Anyone that has a camper shell, add curtains? I’ve looked at like a thousand google photos and can’t find a good design.

I'm thinking of putting a lock box in the front of the bed next to the cab with dual batteries and the compressor. I heard that it might not be the best idea to mount compressors in the cab? I'm not sure about that yet - any recommendations?

They're kinda loud and they certainly get toasty when running, that said if you plan to have a bed box that would be a pretty darn good place to keep it. I have my compressors in the engine bay and they do just fine, but if you have ABS or something else on the passenger fender like cruise control or a washer bottle it might be hard to find space for it there.

Yeah I was thinking of mounting a relay box in the engine compartment where the abs module usually goes - my truck doesn't have it. Any good cheap relay options you could think of? I am pretty into this idea, but could maybe take the idea from it and take a relay box out of another vehicle:

His voice freaks me out, sounds like me haha. I like his idea, nothing wrong with repurposing an old relay box, I am installing a Bussman RTMR right now and it is also a good option as you get 5 Fused and Relayed circuits and another 5 just fused circuits as well. RTMR is a pretty self contained package which is nice, probably pretty easy to make your own bracket for a junkyard fuse/relay box too.

How much is the bussman? Link to a site to purchase it from? I think I may have overestimated how much it would cost for one - I think I'm seeing them for $30 or so unless I'm mistaken...

You probably saw an empty shell for $30, they can be assembled a few different ways but unless you're building a few of them it costs too much to gather all the parts and tools to assemble just one. Here is a link to a fully assembled one from the same seller I got mine from, looks like he's changed a thing or two but function is the same.

Hey! You asked for ideas jerk.

Hahaha nah, I pulled these from the yard and I’m in the middle of copying their pattern with a dark fabric. I weirdly like sewing...

Right on. I think I'll figure out how many relays I'll need and go from there - I see what you're saying about buying materials to make one and ending up getting more expensive than buying one like this. I'm not sure how many I'll need for the air system / lockers, but for lights I figure three or four...

So you're going to mount dual batteries in the bed then run all wires to the engine compartment and adding a relay box. i was under the impression the relay/fuse box had to be close to the battery. :notsure: If it doesn't matter then i'll do the same. I already have enough shit in my small bed space. last thing I want back there is a bunch of wires.

I saw that and went and pulled a fuse box out of a 94 XJ. I couldnt get it to fit anywhere in my engine bay. I have a 2.7. Its on eBay now.

Good point! I'll have time to figure it out. I just have a single battery in the engine bay until the plan is complete.

All that spare room in the engine bay is tempting to use for something... I'd like to do solar, lights, and comms in the future too. I don't mind soldering so it's going to take some research on how to make all my wiring myself or the most cost effective means for wiring all my mods...
