Hmm, maybe I'll get one soon then. I got the one for the frame but nothing for the vibration issue. My truck does vibrate somewhat, but it's hard for me to pinpoint where it comes from. I get a slight clunk when I decelerate too.

So I have an '11 Double Cab LB 4x4 that was built on November 24, 2010. I was unaware of this thread before today, but I took the truck in to the dealer this morning because I could not solve vibration issues that had developed over the last few months. Had the tires rebalanced several times to no avail. The dealer charged me $58 to diagnose the issue. They tell me it's the carrier bearing but they claim they need to replace the entire driveshaft for $1500 and change. After I recovered from that shock, I came home to do some research and found this thread. My truck in "theory" should be covered, but when I called Toyota HQ, they said my vin falls outside of the vehicles covered. Um, wtf? I have a copy of the letter from Toyota to the dealers showing trucks built through early December 2010 are covered. So they are "researching" the issue and are going to get back to me in a couple of days.

Curiously, the dealer also told me this morning one of my rear leaf springs was cracked, and truck would not pass inspection. I see there is a recall for leaf springs as well on 690,000 05-11's. When I asked Toyota if I was covered, I was also told that no, sorry, you are outside the vins covered, even though your truck is an '11. Again, wtf?

I'll wait for Toyota's answer on coverage for the driveshaft, and then decide what to do. The carrier bearing itself is $150 part, plus install. I don't know why the dealer can't just replace that.

I just had my 06 Tacoma 4x4 6 speed manual inspected but the local dealer for the vibration. I took it in because I can feel the vibration at low and high speeds. Their is also a good amount of play at the carrier bearing. After the inspection I was told my 3rd gear syncroring is bad and causing the vibration. So they said I need a new trans LOL.

I know my truck and have yet to have any shifting issues. I just hit 60000 miles have had the leaf springs changed by toyota and all other recalls. Becarefule with this TSB it is making dealers money. Spend the money on parts and send in the reimbursement form.

My husband has been dealing with this vibration for the past couple years. Truck gets up to 60-65 mph and the vibration is ridiculious. Replaced u-joints 3 x's, had driveshaft balanced twice and replaced the trans mount. We got the letter in the mail and yesterday took it to the dealer. 1st thing the service guy said is is they start checking the obvious wheel balancing and so on. If they find that the problem is not what is noted in the letter they will charge $150 for diagnostics.
After the obvious is checked they start with the u-joints, if those are bad then the driveshaft. So because my huband has replaced the u-joints it voided the warranty because they "don't know if the original were bad". So now his truck still has the vibration and OH the tail shaft is bad. Which we were told it could have been caused by the vibration from the driveshaft but we won't know because my husband replaced the u-joints. BUT they can fix it plus new struts/shocks for $3800 plus labor. My husbands reply, "That's not gonna happen".
So my husband told the service guy I see a Class Action in the works.....We didn't get charged the $150 fee
Oh and FYI service guy said Toyota has changed the driveshaft in these trucks 11 times.

Since you replaced u-joints you should have just sent the bill for that for reimbursement as stated in the letter.
Your problem is obviously something else...

No kidding something else is wrong. As stated in my post that the tail shaft was bad "we were told it could have been caused by the vibration from the driveshaft but we won't know because my husband replaced the u-joints". That being said IF you had work done to try and "fix" the vibration your're SOL on the extended warranty. As for reimbursement Toyota will probably find a reason to not reimburse you. Just my opinion.

And you'd have $90 left over to pay for your next 3 oil changes vs paying the dealer for a $150 diagnostic fee

I had the same vibration that all of you have been talking about. Skipped the hassle of going to dealer and just had a single piece drive shaft built. Eliminates the poorly made center support/bearing, and upgraded the u-joints as well. All said and done it cost me $450 out the door.

I am getting this done on Friday. It's a warranty enhancement not a recall. I would suggest you make sure your truck has the issues (vibration) before you take it in or they will charge you for half up to and hour for inspection and it's 140 an hour where I live. Luckily I know my truck has the issue at low speed on light throttle the vibration shakes the entire truck. I will post an update when the work is completed.

I have been dealing with this same problem for a few months.. I have googled myself to death.. I took my truck in 6000 miles ago and the check engine light was coming on and going off.. Team One Toyota said it would cost me $65 to put it on the diagnostic..I said fine.. it came back catalytic converters not working.. so when I started feeling this extremely hard vibration I assumed it was the CCs.. then I thought to myself that it couldn’t be that.. I am not losing power.. the vibration only starts after you have been driving.. and need to slow down and accelerate again.. it’s not a specific rpm or mph.. I took it to a transmission shop.. spent $250 to have it cleaned out and serviced and they drove it. Felt the same vibration and insisted it was the transmission.. I am a girl but I’m not a idiot and knew it wasn’t the tranny.. so I broke down and took it to Toyota.. I spoke with a guy that I know in the service Dept and told him exactly what it is doing.. what I have had done and he is thinking the same thing as we are.. driveshaft, ujoints.. etc.. then I left and ran across this forum.. not sure why or how I have not so far.. but THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL OF YOU THAT POSTED THE PROBLEM. And THE LETTER!! I have not received the letter but I did email this to my friend.. he emailed me back and said if they drive it and it’s the ujoints.. that Toyota would replace them.. I replied with what about the driveshaft.. it looks as if the ujoints are a secondary problem caused by the drive shaft.. I will keep everyone posted on the outcome today.. thanks again.. sorry if I have grammar errors.. I’m in a hurry and have no time for “autocorrect” mistakes!

So I had this done today all they replaced was the u joints . It still makes weird vibrations. Maybe torque converter locking up ? It shakes violently sometimes

If it’s TC shudder you wouldn’t feel it until after 35-40mph when the solenoid locks it up. It wouldn’t hurt to change the fluid and see if it goes away though.
